k i am thinkin of movin to whistler this summer with a friend we weill only be 17 so it creates a prob on the upside here we have access to fake ids to be any age we want will this work and what else are we gonna have to do to be able to find house / job

#1) Please tell me you've finished high school.

#2) Do you know how much rent is in Whistler? It's insane. You'd better have a lot of money saved. Even some of the pros up there live in Squamish (about 45mins towards Vancouver from Whis) just because they save so much on rent.

And that's not to mention buying a seasons pass.

And it will only increase as the Olympics get closer.

#3)Plan way ahead. Seriously. You'll need roomates, a place to stay, etc... Cheap accomadation in Whis is next to impossible to get. And if there is any, the veteran ski bums who've been doing it for years usually score the places.

#4) Employment isn't actually easy to come by. The ski bum-to-job ratio is very small. It's tough to get a job in Whis unless you have lots of experience or, get lucky and score a job working for the mountain. (Which form what I hear isn't that great.)

Trust me. Everybody wants to move to Whistler. It's not easy.

i will be done with high school in december i have about 12 thousand in saving my friend who is moving out with me has around 8 thousand in savings so money for the first lil while should be ok it is finding a job and a place

your gonna have problems finding a landlord who will rent to anyone under 21. You may need a parent to cosign on a lease, possibly paying upfront or having a huge damage deposit. You'll find a lot of accommodation come summer and if you share a room with your friend it should be no more than $400/month at the most. Jobs...it's like anywhere else, however you'll be on the shit end of things, so suck it up and don't complain and you'll do fine

^ legal age in BC is 19. I would laugh so hard if you payed big bucks for a fake ID and found out it was useless

To get a work visa for Canada you need either a)a company requesting your work and therefore a skill or b) to be an American student at an accredited American university. The work visa sounds impossible for you and the university one. As far as work in Whistler I hear it is hard to find under the table stuff which is what you would need seeing you can't get a Visa. For housing you can always stay at the ghetto Shoestring Lodge. It's dormitory style so the amount of possessions you can take with you is limited. Whistler is also very expensive for everything so living off the funds you have isn't really an option either. Your plans don't sound too feesable.

if your keen to blow 12 grand then you could easily survive a winter. just finding a place for yourselves at that age is gonna be VERY hard...whistler landlords are ruthless and you have to have a clean record (not fucking up other houses, paying rent on time etc) best deal to do is find a room in a house that someone needs to rent out...shared accomodation. If someone has 2 rooms for rent then your stoked...if you tell them you have 12 grand to cover you all year then they would be stoked too...$500 X 6 month ski season is only $3000 for rent...pass $1200, you would still be laughing. giver dude if you think you got your shit together, otherwise whistler will take you for a spin and spit you out in a hurry...
