if it has the dreaded ring of death or whatever the fuk thats called( i dont even have an xbox) look up on craigslist someone who can fix it. the is like 20 ppl saying they can fix it for you for like $20

what light is it.? is it the one on the front faceplate? check the wiring to the tv and make sure the power supply is properly plugged in.

if there is 3 red rings when you push the 'on' button instead of a green light, then you will need to call 1-800-4MY-XBOX and get them to ship a box to your house and you will then place your broken xbox into the box and ship it to Microsoft. they will fix the xbox and ship it back to you. make sure you have a warantee to do this.

if you do not have a warantee then you will need to find a nerd that will fix your xbox.

no no no im not talking about that ring of death crap im talking about the wireless adapter its light just goes red and it will not connect to my wireless even though its a strong connection

i know exactly what you're talking about. did you try going through the xbox settings and looking up the wireless network connections. if you go through that see what it says. You may have a great connection at your computer, but if its not actually on the xbox, then youre getting nowhere. Check with your router and see if its password protected or set so that it wont connect to anything else, and if none of that works, try plugging the wireless adaptor in the front of the xbox, because there might be a problem with the ubs port in the back of the xbox. Thats a problem that i had. If you still cant get it to work pm me

Hope that helps

any xbox with ring of death is under manufacturer's warrenty for life. I bought my xbox used for mad cheap from this place in the city(prob stolen) and a year later it got ring o death from power surge, I sent it in to xbox and they fixed it for free i only paid to ship it to them.

Also i have heard of wats called the four towel method which involves wrping it and letting it get real hot in hopes to reset itself, but tht sounds like bs to me

its still not working and to the people that keep talking about the red ring of death thats NOT what i was asking about

Ok hit the Xbox button on the controller and then hit connect to xbox live, it will fail obviously, but then a test connection thing should come up, go through that. can you tell us what it fails at?

it fails on the second one, wireless network connection but then when i go to settings it says that it found my connection and its at full strength

If you have any questions with these steps ask. Turn on the console and navigate to the wireless settings screen. On the Xbox, the menu path is "Settings -> Network Settings -> Advanced -> Wireless -> Settings" On the Xbox 360, the menu path is "System -> Network Settings -> Edit Settings."

Set the SSID (network name) on the Xbox to match that of the wireless router. If your wireless router has enabled SSID broadcast, the SSID name should appear pre-selected on the Xbox display. Otherwise, select the "Specify Unlisted Network" option and enter the SSID there.

Specify "Infrastructure" as the Network Mode. (Infrastructure is the mode used by wireless routers.)

Set the Security Type to match that of the wireless router. If your router uses WPAencryption and the type of adapter connected to the Xbox does not support WPA, you will need to change your router settings to use WEP encryption instead.Note that the standard Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter supports WPA while the standard Microsoft Xbox Wireless Adapter (MN-740) only supports WEP.Save your settings and verify the network is functional.

On the Xbox, the Wireless Status screen displays whether a connection has successfully been made with the wireless router, and the Connect Status screen displays whether a connection has successfully been made through the Internet to Xbox Live.

On the Xbox 360, use the "Test Xbox Live Connection" option instead.[/list]

thanks for trying, but that did not work either it already had all those things, my wireless does not have a security settings or anything and when i go to edit settings> basic settings> wireless mode it picks up my wireless but when i test it it still doesnot work

this happened to me i just didnt do anything for like an hour, And then turned it on did the test ant it worked fine

alright, your settings are messed up. make sure that your IP address and every other thing is 100% correct. thats the reason that it wont work. call your internet provider for the information you need. go to test your connection, and when it says that something failed(ex."IP address failed") that means that you must get the correct address and that everything is in sinc. meaning all the numbers must go along with each other meaning that all the info. must be about the same modem.
hope this helps

Ive gotten the ring of death three times, finally i just bought a new one cause i was tired of sending my xbox back to microsoft.

they found the glitch that makes the red ring of fire. they fixed it and the new xbox's dont get that anymore
