Help with jumps?

so for some reason i will usually try rails out of my comfort zone, ill just say fuck it and try it then usually after the first try i feel good to keep trying it. but i can't ever nut up on jumps.... like i dont know why i just cant do it im worried im going to be backseat or something...

any tips on getting the nerve to hit a jump?

there is about a 15-20 foot jump that im kinda comfortable with but not still sure with it and sometimes it takes me a long time to get the nerve to do it. there is also this 30-35 foot jump but i can't do it!!! so frustrating!! i have stood at the drop in watching it for like 20 mins once and then pussy out on it.

please help.

im like the opposite, rails sketch me out way more then jumps. have you done any speed checks on it? if you are worried about being backseat practice popping and staying balanced on the smaller jump. When you are comfortable with that its just a matter of figuring out speed, which you can follow someone in for.

If You're scared of falling backseat, practice on that 15-20 foot jump you're comfortable with and really work on that stomped landing. Once you feel ready, ask someone who has hit the jump before if you can follow them in. It helps so much to have the right speed.

1. Start small

2. Watch other people's speed

3. Bend your knees slightly on the approach

4. Pop when you reach the lip

5. Tuck your knees if you lose your balance in the air

6. Stomp the landing

7. Profit

I would practice on that jump but it still sketches me out a little. The next size down is like 6 feet and sucks cause you tuck into it then just clear the knuckle and it's boring lol.

Also one of the reasons it scares me is cause it is really poppy I have seen a kid go on it and probably get 15 or 20 feet vertical on it which really made it worse.

This. Then you won't have to worry about casing or overshooting it. All you'll have to worry about is getting the balls to go for it. It's intimidating as hell to hit a jump for the first time because usually you can't see the landing and going up the kicker is pretty blind.

Also, you know how you said the 6 footer was boring? That's probably because you hit it a bunch of times and got comfortable on it. Work on hitting the 15 footer more and getting confident on it. Try to throw some 1s or 3s on the 6 footer and get a bit more sense of air awareness too. That might help you with the 15 footer as well!

My last day of last year I was at blue mountain, pa, my local hill. And they almost always have a big air line set up. The jumps increase in size after each one so I usually only do the first two which go like 10or15 then 20. I was always nervous about the size of the last two so I went on the first two and totally stomped them. I guess I was so hyped on adrenaline but next thing I know I was finished the third jump and heading towards the last jump, probably about 30-35 feet. My best advice would be to get hyped on the adrenaline and just send it. Usually works for me.
