Help with aprés ski rats nest hair

Anyone else experience the struggle of getting home after a nice day of skiing and having a shit show of a rats nest when trying to untangle your hair? That's my ultimate struggle and I'm curious of ways you prevent this from happening. I have tried braiding my hair in 2 braids, braiding all my hair in one braid, and even ponytails but I still get the worst tangled hair. I would loovvvvveeee any solutions to this madness.

thx ;)

One day, I got so sick of my hair, I put it in two ponytails and cut it off. It wasn't super short but It still looked really ratchet so I always wore hats. It's kinda grown out now, I miss my long hair. But ya know, gotta do what ya gotta do. Skiing served me well.

yep - I can relate to the nest hair.

I have found no solution. I just throw on a hat and wait to untangle after a shower. My family says I look homeless in the wintertimes. I say - own the mess!

I cut my hair before winter because of this problem. I usually keep it long enough to to tuck into a bun at the nape of my neck, that usually controls it.

Also, when my hair was waist length I'd rembeaid my hair a few times during The day. Comb it out with my fingers, then rebraid it. That seems to keep it under control for a bit.

Yes! The ultimate struggle!

I French braid my hair to the side. It still gets tangled on the side where my layers fall out but it works best for me.

Ha, yass! I've found the sidebraid to be my best ally, but you for sure still get some wicked tangles especially on pow days. I just throw on a beanie afterwards and own it until I can make it to the shower and all the conditioner

Freeeennnccchhh braids! The closer they are to like your face the better if that makes sense! Also if you have naturally curly or wavy hair sometimes I find straightening the night before bushing in the morning then braiding helps!!

Omg yes. Every time. I always side braid but i still get it. It's so much worse when I get my bangs out so people can see I'm a girl too.

I rock a low bun, the kind where you make a ponytail but don't pull your hair all the way through at the end. It's surprisingly effective at preventing a rats nest.

Btw, quality poll

Have to get the bangs out !!! Haha need to look like a girl

back before i slashed all my hair off i went for two tight-as-fuck ponytails and usually that did the trick, and you could still tell i was a chick.

Or you could just get dreads and then you'll never have to worry about it ever again hahaha

after much experimentation, i found the solution!!!

put hair into low ponytail and tie with hair tie

then, braid hair.

then, put hairtie in again at the end.

it stays i promise

DYKE BRAID!! They're my favorite. I usually do my hair like that hahaha

I use the Jasmine from Aladdin method; multiple hair ties. Put hair in ponytail, put second hair tie in, scoot second hair tie down 1 inch, repeat until you get to the end of your hair. Shit stays put, probably doesn't look as nice as a braid, but I never did learn to braid my own hair.

Imma try this one! Usually I don't do the first pony just the braid

Did anyone see dans (well stopskiings) call out to slut strands yesterday. I think we're being watched. And I gotta say I'm not too upset about it

I'm all for slut strands. Sorry not sorry it's def a win win if you can be cute ish and ski with guys

My slut strands end up knotted XD dare I say... Kinky?

Nah but really, you could try French braids, it might help a bit. Also get some Suave children's detangling spray. It smells a lot better than most of the cosmetic-y type of detanglers. I usually don't do any products cus they break my skin out but this one seems to work.

i’ve cursed/blessed with curly black girl hair that has never not been in complete tangles. i got box braids a while back and my life has been changed. not only do i not have to worry about my hair but everyone on the mountain recognizes me by my long braids that flow out of my helmet

Sometimes when it's snowing (or just when I don't want my hair to be covered in snow when I fall) I put my hair in a braid and then on the inside of my jacket, so it won't get wet. Not sure if it will help you, but it kinda does by my hair 🤷‍♀️

This is one method I use. Another is a low bun. I wear a beanie when I'm not skiing so it doesn't matter how messy it gets.

I keep basic kids detangling spray and a comb (not a brush) in the bag, works wonders. Also just cut all my hair off so looks like I won’t have that problem for a while :(

I frenchbraid 2 rows on my head...I do it while my hair is wet then I spray aqua net hairspray...when I ski I always use those hats that cover ur face too under my helmet. This keeps my hair semi together.
