Help With a Jam Session at a Local Hill

So I've been put in charge of organizing a jam session at my local hill as a chance for all the local kids to come and show off their best tricks and as kind of a end of season event. The point is basically for all the kids to have a day where they can show off to friends and family, and we're putting an emphasis on having fun. Our current idea is to have a 1 hour sesh where kids can just throw down, and then afterwards just raffle out prizes to the "competitors". I can't participate due to an injury, so I was thinking maybe I could pick out one or two kids to award a prize for "best trick". Anybody have any other ideas on how this could be run to make it seem a little more "official", while still keeping it fun with competition not being a huge factor? Keep in mind most of these kids are between 10-14, so really it will be mostly straight airs, which is why we're trying not to make this a competition, but as a fun jam sesh.

Sparknotes: I'm organizing a jump/rail sesh, how can I make this seem more official, LIKE a competition, but with an emphasize on fun? And how can I distribute prizes if it's not really a competition, but rather a "show us what you got" event?

How many kids are you looking at for competing?

IMO, I don't think it has to seem official. If you just have like 30-40 kids going at it for an hour, that would be pretty fun. Then just give a top 3 awards to the 3 gnarliest tricks.

If you really want it to seem official, have 3 judges just sitting and watching. And have them score. But not real, big official rulebook scoring. Just out of 10. Then average the three judges scores for each competitor.

I would go with the first way, but whatever you want.

you could have a huge game os skate on snow. or you could break it down into age groups so you dont get a 13 year old competing with a 23 year old

We don't really have numbers but I'd guess 20ish. It's a pretty small local hill... I like the idea of 3 awards for 3 gnarliest tricks. Maybe give an award for each age group, grom, teen, and over the hill, since it wouldn't be fair comparing a 18 y/o with a bunch of 12 y/os... But for sure, if we get enough kids out, it should be a fun time regardless.

At my mountain we have 2 divisions: 15 and younger and older than 15We also give out small cash prizes like: $10, $20, $30 for the top 3 places respectfully. Or sometimes we give out hoodies or tees and stuff.

if it's not really official then dont make age groups. every rail jam is pretty much freeforall... and if there's only 20-30 persons then the groups are going to be pretty small so its not going to worth it IMO
