Help with 5-Panel Hats? (K+)

Hey guys,
I'd love to sew my own 5 Panel hats and maybe even start selling some.
I have searched all over the internet, but can't find a template for the individual pieces anywhere.
If anybody can send me a template (or lead me to one), I will be incredibly grateful.

Yeah, I watched all of these videos and pretty much understand how they are made, I just need the actual measurements for the individual panels.

Nah that doesn't show the exact shapes of the panels :(
I've spent hours scouring the internet to no avail, I was just wondering if somebody had the templates saved as a pdf or something.

I am currently making one myself. I just guessed at the shapes and it went together pretty well. I might cut it apart after I finish to copy down the sizes and shapes and if I do I will post it.

That would be awesome!
Would you mind shedding some light on what you used as a clip at the back and where you got it from?

So I went to a local craft store and picked up a cheap hat that they had, they sell them often to paint and things like that and they are cheap (mine was $4). I then began to tear it apart, I wanted to keep the bill for the hat I was making and the snaps in the back as well as the band that connects the two together. I then proceeded to cut out what was left of the hat in a shape I thought was similar to a 5 panel hat. After that is was just a lot of subtle tweaking to get it into the right shape but it wasn't too bad.

I am sure you could buy the snaps somewhere but because I was only making one this seemed like the easiest thing to do.

Thanks man!
If I ever manage to get a webstore up, I'll make sure to post it on NS. I also appreciate any suggestions for designs, etc.

I will continue to check for templates! I also want to make one. It's hard to find dope hats for a small buck these days.

Anyways, here's what the hat looks like.

Not specifically, I just took a 5-Panel apart and made cardboard templates roughly the same as the individual pieces. I can upload a picture of those panels if that would help you.
The print takes an acquired taste haha, it was super cheap fabric and I figured I may as well.

These are the templates for the actual panels (without seam allowances, just go for about a cm and trim off as needed. The side and top templates have to be flipped over to make the 4th and 5th panel.

And here is the shape of the brim, compared to the panel that goes at the front of the hat.

I made one the other day and I would challenge the quality of it against many other companies. I'll throw up pics in a little when I'm not on mobile

From the five panel I took apart to make the pattern. You could easily cut plastic though

Ahhh sick. I've been planning on doing this for a while but gave up when I couldn't find any decent templates. NS never fails to pull through though!

The templates look sick, I wanna make some myself but I don't have a 5 panel to take apart at my disposal... Could you maybe give some approximate height and width measurements for all the cardboard pieces? I can use the pics you posted to mimic the shape but as for scale I have no idea how long/wide they should be

sorry for dub post, but now that i just got off my phone and onto my comp so i could see the pics better, i can see that you do have little measurements written on two of the cardboard templates, but i'm still having trouble reading/interpreting them... is the measurement for the side the arrow is pointing at? or for the length of the axis that arrow travels along? also just a rough height/width/length of curve set of measurements for the half-circle piece would be really great too, also thanks for the thread!

Sorry man, accidentally deleted this from my thread watch and haven't thought to check it since.

The little written measurements are how much excess fabric/seam allowance to cut out, the edges of the template pieces are where the actual seam is. As for a sense of scale, maybe you can tell from the size of the brim piece, it seems to be pretty standard in the 5-Panel industry.

Bumping this because im trying to find somewhere to buy adjustable back straps and i can't seem to locate any.

ALSO

If anyone wants the pattern for a 5 panel, PM me, i'll send you a dropbox with the pattern!

for my strap and bill and sweatband I just used materials from another hat because I didn't know where else to get them. I know that's not overly helpful though, sorry
