Help with 4’s out

I don’t know if it’s the way I pedal or if it’s just a mental block but I can’t get 4’s out I just end up doing a sketchy 2 every time.

your'e popping up which is doog, but you have to lead the spin with your shoulders/head and not flail out like you did there. Bring your arms in close to your body when you spin and that will send you right around
 
pick your knees up a little (good advice for a ton of rail tricks)

set it and forget it (i feel like you're thinking too much about coming around to 270 and spotting your landing. keep going)

Yeah when my mountain opens I’m just gonna try and think of it as a 3 n hopefully that will help

Okay thanks I’ll prolly try on the backyard setup when I get snow later this week
 
Slow it down and watch your head. Its following your body and stead of your body following your head. That's why its sketchy. You have the skill to do one from watching that. I was so fixated/nervous on spotting my landing I would try to see it before I even spun, seems your doing the same. How are your threes? that's a great place to start especially since on jumps regardless of size leading with your head and upper body is essential. If it falls behind like here it'll prevent the lower body from doing the rotation. When you really rip it around my guess is you get off axis since your heads one way and then legs the other. Even just try a 2 and leading with your head so your not freaked out and just keep on pushing until you get there. Hope that makes sense.
 
why are you trying to do it blind? i think its a lot harder grip with your toe instead of heel. same difference as doing front swap or back swap

spin the other way and im sure you got it!

the way i usually work up to it, is to do a late swap toward the very end of the rail and continuing 2 out. then just pick up the speed and do it later and later until youre there.

edit: oh and keep hands nice and close to your body after you set the spin. i generally keep them at my hips. the arm lift youre doing basically disconnects lower and upper body, stopping/catching the spin. stay connected, keep your abs tight.

If you watch closely you open up at 270, I'm pretty sure you had the height and spin but you just need to stay tuck and wait longer before opening up, at first you might land at 90' so just land and slide to forward, but you clearly have the skill to do it

yeah OP don't worry about coming up a little short on spins out of rails, you can fudge sideways landings off rails no problem at all. so get rid of any thought in your head that you need to either stop at 270 or make it to 450

just toss it, i know that's typical NS bro advice but in this case it's the right lesson

some doofus said that you should not go bs bc it was harder. it is so different from person to person. i find blind 450 to be a walk in the park, while a fs 450 feels a bit like a huck

Don’t have any clips but my 3’s are pretty good, rails just tend to spook me and I end up trying to whip around the trick. I do the same thing with 2’s on

that got me thinking though. ill start a poll seeing who learned front swap or back swap first.

for me, front swap just came naturally. but i doo see how back swap might feel easier because its continuing the rotation of getting on the rail. idk.

i learned both fs swaps and fs 450 first, but i would say a bs 450 is way easier, and the kid seems to have them dailed pretty good. and if he is trying bs 450, he is trying bs 450. even though one day he will probably learn fs 450, if not already
 
more exaggerated "tip dip" with your front foot towards end of rail might allow you to get your head and shoulders started on the spin earlier....

but mainly seems like a mental block, opening up to spot landing too early, dont look for the landing at 270, just keep spinning

I think getting a good set, while focusing on keeping your body loose/relaxed during the spin is key.
