HELP WANTED

Hey everyone,

I wasn't sure what forum to put this in so I went with the one that seemed to have the most traffic. I am wondering if anyone knows a good place (not LinkedIn, indeed, etc) to look for jobs in the ski/action sports community.

I am a filmer/editor and have been looking for social media marketing and video content jobs but it seems very difficult to find anything in the action sports world.

Anything and everything helps.

Thanks,

-Tyler

newschoolers/tgr is a good place to start. rarely youll see posts like "looking for a filmer in XYZ"

you should get a portfolio first. a show case of what kind of work youve done on personal time, for school and so on.

you can find a ski crew in your area and ask them if they want some filming. these things take time tho, not talking from experience.

the best jobs would be with big production companies like msp, level 1, warren miller entertainment, insprired, sherpas etc. you might be able to do internships with them. ski movies are dying and everything is moving to instagram and youtube. def a hard place to find well paid work. not trying to discourage you, but its the truth.

I feel like specific ski/snow companies will post that kind of thing directly on their sites prior to it appearing on recruiting or networking platforms. You can always check out what K2’s got posted, they aggregate all of the available positions for all of the brands that they own on their site.

Unfortunately it hasn't been as simple as you've laid out, I wish it was. But, until I someone has a different idea ill keep plugging away on sites!

Thanks,

start local as you have.

CK. is on the come up as a filmer from ontario.https://www.instagram.com/camk3ith/?hl=en

you could ask him what hes done.

sdvrper is also from ontario and rides mslm.

maybe you can link up with him.
https://www.instagram.com/guohski/?hl=en

i only know of these guys and maybe rode up the chair with them unknowingly. not sure how they will react, but an extra filmer never hurts, especially if they have their own gear.

eventually you will have to move west imo. filmers have to be solid all around skiers to be able to snap up any kind of job. resorts even have film/photo jobs available sometimes for their social accounts. we just dont get the same amount of opportunity as they get there (i think).
