Help Save Pit Bulls in Turkey!

OH HAY!
The Turkish Government has recently made the decision to own a Pit Bull type dog (over 25 different breeds) illegal. They are rounding up dogs left and right, fining the owners more than $2000USD per dog. Because Turkey doesn't have many large animal shelters as we do, these dogs, roughly 10,000+, are going to be euthanized. The country has ordered Veterinarians to turn in owners who have Pit Bull type dogs, proving that they are targeting RESPONSIBLE owners and not just dog fighters.
You don't have to be a Pit Bull owner or even like them, but think about if someone took your dog away and killed it. Please help me and other Pit Bull owners help these poor innocent dogs.

Breed bans don't work. Period. Tell Turkey to overturn their BSL decision!!

i would normally feel compelled to immediately sign, but i feel like we wil have little to no impact on a country like turkey.
 
ok so if your friend was dying and needed cpr to help them have a slight chance of survival,you wouldn't give them cpr because you feel it would have little impact?

trust me if i could fly to turkey and help them i would, BSL is disgusting and i would do anything to help these dogs.

 
actually i do. and CLEARLY i know that a petition can't do much but it's a fucking start.
italy overturned their BSL, pretty sure turkey can too.
 
aren't they still killed here as well. Bout 6 years ago we got a boxer mix from the pound. they told us they thought she might be part pit but they wouldn't put that down on paper cause they had to kill anything that was any part pit rather than give them away as rescues.

I don't agree with it, but then again I've never heard of a beagle ripping a kids face off before either.
 
DENVER! one of the largest BSL cities in the country...and it isn't always the dog, responsible ownership is key with dogs like this. there was a pomeranian that killed a baby a few years back, any dog is capable of attacking but it just so happens that "Pit Bulls" are the most recognized.

yeah while i dont agree with what they are doing, pitbulls are still scary dangerous animals, and personally i wouldnt feel bad at all killing one if it came at me. ive had encounters with pissy pit bulls before, someone in my neighborhood owns two. my friends dog is always pissed off, its not a pitbull but its bitten people multiple times, if its not on a leash its scary as fuck, and i have kicked it in the face when it was trying to bite me, and hit and kicked it multiple other times, and i dont feel bad about it one bit. it usually stops after the first hit and almost always after 2. my friend gets pissed, but he feels the need to take it with him wherever we go, so he could solve that problem by not taking his dangerous fucking dog out in public.
if people can control their pets then i think the should be able to own whatever they want. but if they cant and their animal attacks someone, especially if it attacks people multiple times, then i dont have a problem with killing the dog and punishing the owner.
 
thats not what i was saying, i was saying that while i think you should be able to own such dogs, you need to be a responsible owner, especially since your owning a potentially deadly animal. and if the dog shows that it can function safely around people, then they can kill it. and id have no problem killing an animal that tries to attack me.
 
a lot of people shouldn't own animals and it has absolutely nothing to do with how dangerous the breeds are. a lot of people just suck at taking care of animals. a lot of pittbulls are the biggest babies i've ever met. rottweilers too.

what you don't hear on the news is that "pit bull" attacks include 25 different breeds that all fall under that category. like take my dog for example, he's an American Staffordshire Terrier, you wouldn't know that unless you were really good with distinguishing between breeds. my dog literally had a terrible first year of his life and it's crazy that after being tortured he is an amazing dog. really goes to show what good ownership and responsible breeding can do.
i could never hurt a dog, even if it was attacking me. i've been attacked before and had my knee severely torn up but not once did i ever think that dog should have been killed.
 
Too lazy to read this whole thing, but im guessing your bitching about a pitbulls mean/ defensive nature. Its all about how you raise your dog. Doesnt matter what breed they come from...

Example: I have a Saint Bernard..aka the Beethoven movie dog. They are known to be rescue dogs and "Gentle Giants", just overall REALLY nice dogs that wont hurt a fly. My dog, Zeus, is an absolute asshole. All he does is bite. In fact, he put me in the hospital for a week because of how infected the bite got when he bit me (all i was doing was petting him, and it set him off). But to be honest, its not his fault that he's mean. We (my family) raised him incorrectly. We never showed him that all of us in the family is superior to him. We never really showed him that we were boss when he would try to "play bit" or "nip" us when he was a puppy. Zeus now thinks that he is King over everyone except for my dad. So there you go, perfect personal example is all how you raise a dog
 
yeah but its still the dogs fault when it attacks someone, you really cant blame anyone but the dog for its actions. like if someone had a bad childhood and grew up to be a rapist, you dont put his parents in jail.
and yeah, people dont realize the importance of raising a dog well. i even felt bad training my dog when she was a puppy, i was not very nice to her at all, but now she is amazing, never once tried to bite anyone, never growled anyone other than being playful, she's probably the happiest dog i know of. and best of all she listens to me nomatter what, if i tell her to sit or come or any other command, she does it right away.

 
thousands of PEOPLE die everyday from preventable diseases, women and children are still sold into slavery and prostitution and your getting worked up over a few thousand dogs that would rip your left tit off if you gave them half a chance.
 
i love my dog, and my cousin has a pit, and its such a nice friendly dog and looks awesome too. When i was away at school, this one pitbull that i was always around, was super nice, and then one day i walked into the house, and it jumped up at me, and bit my wrist, that being said, my dog has bitten me as well, i have a beagle, some dogs just get antsy sometimes, and i signed ur petition

And yes, we have problems.. know what... they are problems that we can't do anything about because apparently the government here in the US has forgotten who they work for.
 
i dislike pitbulls with the full extent of my heart sorry op but i am definatley not voting or signing this, pitbulls at times are nice pets but mostly are aggressive animals, go turkey,
 
lol the only people who don't like pitbulls are people who follow the stereotype. but whatever i mean to each his own, i'm trying to do whatever i can to help people understand that these dogs (all 25 breeds included) are just as great and friendly as any other breed.

and for you to fucking say go turkey just shows me what type of person you are. congratulations, you clearly know nothing about these dogs, apparently you believe everything the news tells you.
 
You are just a bitch, next time your dog bites you punch it in the head as hard as you can and scold it the dog will learn who is boss.
 
uhh i dont watch the news but i know several of my friends/family who have been attacked by these dogs one of them even kiled, this has nothing to do with the news. By the way 1000 signatures isint going to save dogs, say bye bye to Turkey's pittbulls.
 
oh really? can you tell me what breeds the dogs were that attack your family and friends...and even killed? i'm honestly extreeeemely curious because i guarantee they weren't an APBT or even a pure bred.
You don't think I know 1000 signatures isn't going to do much? Cool, I realize that but I'm doing whatever I can to help them, I could give a fuck how people in Turkey are treated but dogs who are helpless and innocent don't deserve to be killed.
