so yeah basically ive decided im going to pick up BMX anyone have advice of just things to do and not do. I already have a bike that i got when i was in middle school that im going to ride.
if you are going to be serious about it i suggest upgrading your existing bike if you got it in middle school. sounds to me like it could be a cheap basic bike.
well its a diamondback but i dont plan getting to serious probably just being able to cruise around and bunny off/up/over stuff just really chill stuff
start out with some plywood and bricks or something and just build a little jump, get used to pulling up and hopping off of something like that, and you will get better at doing it on flat ground
i'd say work on comfertability on the bike (in the air, just riding, jumpin, etc.) and BALANCE.. manuals, bunny hops, 180's, as long as you feel good on it, you can start to progress
Create an account, the BMX forum is smaller than the mtb forum, but it is a useful tool nonetheless. Just don't yell first! or any of that, Pinkbike is not a place for immature comments. It's a place for arguing with twelve year olds about stuff neither of you knows anything about. But it can be useful, some people try their hardest to be helpful, earnest people.
Yeah the diamond back should be fine to start with. thats what i had when i started, just slowly accumulated a rad bike oer the years. I found speed bumps were an awesome way to learn to hop cause they force you into the motion.Once you get comfortable with that start trying to feeble small benches and ledges, i always found feebles the easiest to learn. And it pretty much goes from there. If your interested in street stuff i would reccomend riding concrete parks before you get to into it, its a nice way to get comfortable with speed and control.
