well thats fucking dumb. we dont need two names for it

We use to always refer to popping up like 3 ft from the end of the rail and kind of daffying on the rail as pedaling. Never heard of it in this context.

Pedaling is the same thing as scissoring.

If you tell someone who doesn't know how to hit rails that they need to scissor their skis, it sounds like you're saying they should cross their tips, which would be bad. If you tell them to make the same motion as stepping on the gas or brake pedal, it makes more sense. Therefore, its becoming the preferred term people use to explain how to grip a rail.

I have a question... So basically you have 2 variations for scissoring/pedaling (whatever) both ways. For example if you want to spin to the left you can apply pressure either with your left heel or your right toe and vice versa if you want to spin to the right, right?

If that's the case, which variation is preffered or it really doesn't matter and it all comes down to you and which way you find it more comfortable to do?

for me it just took a while getting comfortable sliding rails really well, and the ability to pedal or scissor to spin out/swap came later, op it'll come and feel natural eventually

That's technically correct but just focus on pedaling with your front foot for either direction.
