Sup Ns, so yesterday I found out my brother is going to apply to be a junior ski patrol next year. Where did my parents go wrong? Is this a good thing? I mean it has some perks like cheaper skis and stuff but Help?!?

That's not a bad thing. Most patrollers are not the assholes you have negative experiences with.

Yeah that's what I was thinking but I also don't want the other park rats at my mountain to be an asshole to him just because he wears a red vest

The op is a good brother and I will stick up to those park rats if thay make fun of my favorite ski patroller that will never get me in trouble

They might want to consider that he'd be the one stabilizing their shattered fucking necks, potentially saving them from paralysis.

Ski patrol is badass, and I bet those park rat-chet bitches wouldn't be able to handle seeing a boot line fracture.

Maybe you're the chosen one who can finally bring balance and peace to the forc-- the mountain.

Why do East Coast mountains have ski patrol?

Cause people still get hurt lol.

My hill also has yellow jackets... which is pretty pathetic and unnecessary.

What are the yellow jackets? None of those on my hill.

Some of the Reds can be dicks sometimes but they're just trying to keep the hill safe, definite respect.

It's like the same thing as the vail yellow jackets. They yell at you if you're skiing too fast, if you don't put your bar down on the lift, if you ski in the woods(apparently you can't do that anymore) and some other stuff. At the end of last season they yelled at me for filming on the knuckle of a jump lol. I've even seen them yell at a kid for skiing "too fast" when coming into the jump line. It's kind of hilarious haha.

Pretty sure ski patrol is required by law or something too. At the hill I grew up skiing in Wisconsin the instructors wore yellow jackets so they had no power.

Okay? I don't know why this is directed at me. You don't need to blast groomers. I mean, yeah there are bigger mountains on the east that do avy control and everything but most don't need to. So most of the patrollers handle like injuries and stuff. I didn't mean anything bad by that but okay...

Ski Patrol is pretty sick and they're saving people from killing themselves. Don't really see what the problem is here. Props to him.

I feel like if you have some friends on ski patrol with you, it'd be a lot of fun to just go and ski with them while also being on call for people who need help

not as much for avalanches, but for when people get hurt on finding people lost in the woods, which is thicker, and colder than out west, or when people hurt themselves on ice or running into shit/ sprained ankles or whatever like any other mountain.

my brother was one, too. it helped him figure out what he wanted to major in and what he wanted his future to be. you're overreacting, probably because you don't treat your reds with respect.

I don't know why anyone would want to patrol in the east. it's all the responsibility of helping hurt people and spooked gorbies without the perks of riding first tracks on actual mountains and blowing shit up.

Probably cause theyou don't want to pay to ski there.

Talking about the ski patrol for east coast/small mountains. I would imagine that is the main draw of being on ski patrol there. At least that is why all the ski patrol did it on the 144 vertical feet mountain I grew up skiing on.

Ahh ok. Sounds like the same type that busted me without a pass. Lol.

They're fine with speed on my hill but one of my hills will kick you out for out of bounds or in the woods and the other is ok with a little play in the woods.

That's ridiculous! They're pretty laid back here for the most part.

I've gotten away with some pretty ridiculous things at the ski hill with patrol intervention lol

also I've got my pass pulled for jumping the lift once which just kinda means don't admit to doing stupid things lol
