Help me with this effect?! +K for helpful answers

First of all, I apologize for not embedding. The new NS format fucked everything up.

Secondly, I was wondering if anybody could suggest a camcorder that would give me footage like this (not so much the noise- just the kind of look it produces) or an AE effect that could do it for me. Actually, the noise would be cool too, but it's not necessary.

I'm guessing this was filmed with a late 80s / early 90s camcorder but who knows... Thanks for the help!

The easiest way IMO is to download free short clips of old school effects like these and integrate them in your edit a bit like you would do for filmburns. Search maybe filmscratches or something like that.

There's a good AE, Premiere and FCP7 plugin by Digieffects called Damage that can give you pretty much that exact look without having to shoot on a VHS tape from 1987. It costs $100, but, you know, there may be places around the internet to get it for less.
