Help me with my reel!

okay so ive been trying to put together a reel for the last week or so. and for some reason i just cant come up with something im completely happy with. maybe its cause i didn't have a camera all winter (got stolen) so im bitter about all the shoots i missed out on or maybe im just being a perfectionist. so i come to the film guru's for ns for help: so take a gander and tell me what you like, didnt like, etc.watch in hd on vimeo, password: ns

the main thing that is annoying me is the song. i feel like most reels are always these dramatic songs that try to make everything look "EPIC" and thats not really what im going for, espcailly cause alot of it was shot when i had a t1i (no 60p) so nice smooth slo mo isnt possible, not to mention played out. i think the song works well in the beginning with all the sports shots but doesn't flow to well with the lifestyle shots. ive just really had a hard time finding a song that fits both

dont really have the time to critique it but i thought that was really, really sick. there were a couple shots i would have cut but on the whole those were bangers. loved the mtb stuff especially
 
Some of your follows weren't the greatest, but that was really good. And with the intro, time it to the beat a bit better, more snappy to the ascending trumpets/voices/whatever it is. That is literally all I have to say.

 
off the top of my head the one i can think of is the gopro cliff jumping shot. it's a cool shot for sure, but a lot of people do similar shots, and it's not a particularly hard shot to get
 
yea i liked it a lot and have these same comments.

also, how do you like that bike park in castle rock? I live like a half hour away and am never sure if its worth it to go
 
Most of your moving/pan shots were good, but some of the static shots were a bit poorly compositioned. And try to avoid a lot of similar shots (for example the last three, you'll be better of with just the bumblebee shot and the first shot of the flowers, which was the best one). Liked the intro, keep it up!
 
i thought everything worked pretty well. i do agree with your thoughts about the music and the non action shots though. also, the only shots i would think again about are the longboarding and the previously mentioned gopro shot.

what was used to film the the depth of field shots of the fence and the flowers? wondering if its the t1i or not.
 
that was really rad! i especially liked the kiteboarding shots, ive wanted to get into that for a while now
 
Wow that shot came out great. I really need to get some money for a glidecam.
Anyway, I pretty much agree with everything above. I might not use the first longboard shot, and I would probably cut one of the flower shots at the end (the first one looked awesome btw).
If you are still considering changing the song, maybe you could find something that sort of evolves from being ambient and dramatic to fit the lifestyle shots, to being a little more intense to go along with the action shots. Nothing specific really comes to mind, just a suggestion.
