For a german project i am planning a ski trip to germany! Soooo NS help me out: What are some good places to ski, good places to stay, places to eat, Etc. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, post links if you can!

Hey, I'm not an expert, but I'd imagine from Southern Germany you'd be better heading down into Austria to the resorts around Salzburg or Innsbruck which I think aren't really more than a couple of hours from Munich.

There is still some decent skiing in Germany in places like Garmisch, but you'd have more choice in Austria.

I've spent a fair bit of time in Germany and Austria. For skiing, I definitely would say take the train down to the Tyrol region (area around Innsbruck) and go to places like the Arlberg resorts (St Anton is one) Stubai glacier was pretty cool and Kitzbühel (I forgot how to spell it) was awesome. While in Innsbruck, check out the old city and some sights like the Olympic ski jump. In Bavaria (southern Germany) there is TONS to see, some easy ones could be Neuschwanstein (castle built by Ludwig II and the model for cinderellas castle) and Rothemburg ob der Teuer (spelling again). In München there's enough to write books about, as with Innsbruck.

If you have any questions, PM me; I was an exchange student in Germany, have been skiing in Austria, and may be living in Switzerland for a few months this summer. I'll try to answer you from a computer so I can actually type, unlike on my ipod.

bottrop has one of the largest indoor skiing slopes....
quite awesome....
furthermore you'd better go somewhere in bavaria or the black forest for skiing....

I live in Germany.
To echo what others have written already, you are likely to be spending most of your time in southern Germany, so it's very simple to cross the border into Austria, Switzerland, and just a bit further over the Brenner Pass into South Tyrol (Italy). The Arlberg is simply awesome, I also recommend basing yourself in Innsbruck, Austria, and taking advantage of the easy transportation to the nearby resorts (Nordpark, Axamer Lizum, Stubai Glacier, etc.). In many of these cases, the ski buses are free of charge from downtown Innsbruck during the high season. Innsbruck is just under 2 hours from Munich central station by train.
With a car, you of course have more options within convenient reach. If you're relying on trains and buses, it's still pretty easy, but keep in mind that you're probably going to be hauling a fair amount of gear around.
Within Germany, the main choices are the Garmisch area, Oberstdorf, and a nice little spot called Spitzingsee/Schliersee. At least those are the places I've been to, all are nice in their own way, but somewhat smaller than the large resorts in Austria. Garmisch I personally found to be a bit too spread out and difficult to properly schedule from the center of the city (~40 minutes to the Zugspitze summit, with poor schedule coordination between the transportation options), but the view is to die for.
And then return to Munich for a few days, to drink the beer!
More info, just send me a PM.

i am going to be in salzburg for a couple months. does anyone know of any good ski areas around there? in austria/germany doesn't really matter, just curious of some good places close by.

I have no advice for you but just wanted to say you suck! JK. I have always wanted to visit Germany. I hope you have a great time man. post up some pics when you return.
