Right now im driving a 1983 s10 diesel and i need something different for the snow. 2wd is not going to cut it in colorado next winter.

http://albany.craigslist.org/cto/2678460204.html this is my ideal option, i love these engines and the look of these trucks, plus the full sized bed is a huge plus

im not sure i want to make the initial investment of the diesel though

my other main option is a basic 1500 either a chevy or gm the mileage wont be as good as the diesel though. and it does not have a 8ft box. http://albany.craigslist.org/ctd/2670958660.html

i would like some opinions about either of these trucks or any other options i have

inb4 subaru or audi cause i need a truck

inb4 redneck

inb4 truckfag

I mean if you have more money you could invest in the toyota tacoma. My dad has one and I drive it a lot, 6ft bed and crew cab it gets good gas mileage and handles the snow phenomanol. (How ever you spell it)There prob out of your price range but if there not, I would def look into a toyota tacoma.

thanks for the help buddy, i really want to get some newer technology with anti-lock brakes, some traction control, and airbags. i want to get away from the old age. also i really dont want anything lifted, im leaning towards the cummins cause with 4x4, its pretty high already.

get the V8 for sure. I drive an 05 chevy extended cab and it is great. Although I don't have the 5.3, just the 4.8.

oh nevermind then. get the dodge if you are towing/hauling anything or mostly driving on the highway.

the chevy is still a sweet truck though

i know nothing about trucks other that toyota makes the best. I have always like the look of the tacoma.

out of my price range id imagine, tryin to stay under 8 grand

and for those suggesting the tacoma, i really would like a full sized truck

ahahahaha if i had that cash, id be buying a nicer truck than a 01 2500 with a different color tailgate

i've got a 97 chevy 2500, not sure if it's an 8 foot bed but it's pretty close. sucks up gas like a motherfucker, but it's a v8 and fast as hell. i rolled it fully onto its side with a decent amount of speed and drove it home fifteen minutes later.

Solid truck... the 24valve cummins is a great engine...

but i figure this is a good spot to drop a /claim about my truck

Do a thorough check on those gm 4l60e transmissions, look the the fluid and smell it after test driving it for a while, if it's anything but red and a non burnt smell to it, stay away. I also like the 5.3 compared to the 5.7, my current tahoe has a 5.3 and its quicker and more efficient than my old one with a 5.7

i see no "C" tag on the side...must be a pussy-ass hemi

jk props for a solid truck to call your own

haters gonna hate... it is the "Laramie Longhorn Edition" though. And i really have no use for anything bigger/the turbo diesel

if you dont mind me asking, what kind of mileage do you get? we have 2 2500s with v8's at work and they get absolute shit, like 13
