I'm thinking of going to uvic and have a few questions for people who go there:

where do you ski? whistler, baker, Mt Washington? (anywhere else)

how many days do you get, (honestly)

what's the hitchike/ carpool situation like?

help is appreciated!

thanks

So surprising how many NSers are at UVic. I lived there for like half a semester and it was awful. Washington is so far, it only takes an extra hour longer to get to Whis, and it's about the same length of time to get to Grouse if you drive. I just skied Grouse and probably got like 6 days from early November to Christmas.

yeah i went for a year when my acl was blown, you dont go to uvic to ski

transferred to sfu and i get a ton of riding in now, you cant do much of anything other than drink and do school out there so go if thats what you are into. if you are like me and you cant get anything done unless you can ski or skate or whatever then dont go.

fucckkk not really what I wanted to hear. I did my undergrad at UBC and spent my fair share of time at whistler. But I kinda want to do my masters at another school and vic seems chill. I supposed the surf is an equal trade for skiing?

If you think so. So easy to carpool, if you're big into surfing and don't mind not being able to ski than go for it

Meh, I could see myself getting big into surfing. I enjoy it, but haven't done loads of it having lived in Vancouver the past 5 years. I love skiing more than anything, but I'm open to trying new things and I realize that the same enjoyment I've gotten through skiing can be found in other things. That being said, I did also get accepted into grad school at UBC as well. But 6.5 years in total on the same campus is a long time. And I'm ready to try a different place.

UVic Snow, look them up on FB super chill people, lots of cool shit happening all the time.

Used to help run it but graduated and moved away, some buds still run it, you won't regret hitting them up.

Didn't quite read through the thread thoroughly, got stoked on seeing UVic mentioned and went straight to reply thread.

Haven't gone skiing since I got here. But it's kind of a budget/logistics issue. Don't have the seasons pass or buddies to get free rides from. $100 for a day at washington just doesn't seem worth it to me, and then like do I drive and sleep in the car? do I pay and bus it?

I love Uvic though, it's chill and nice.

Carpooling via UVic snow man, people always drive up, and student discount helps for a little bit more of an affordable shred
