Hey NS,

So i am looking to get a medium or telephoto lens. I curntly have a voigtlander 17.5mm .95 and i love it. Its just a little to wide for some aplications. I am thinking of getting a nikon nikkor 50mm 1.2 ais or wait tell the new voigtlander 40mm .95 comes out. Or i am thinking of an old canon or nikkon 85mm 1.4 or something. I am on m43 mount. Does anyone have any exspericnes with these lenses or have any other recemndations? I am not aposed to zooms just primes are usaly a bigger bang for the buck.

Thanks,

Jake

Gh3. I am shooting a wide variety of professional work and personal work. Weddings and marketing stuff as well. Also price range is about 2,000 max on lens. But maybe more.

I really like the Nikkor primes, and have heard they work well with m4/3. My Nikkor 85 f2 is my favourite lens, although it will be quite a bit longer with your sensor. Based on my knowledge I would recommend the Nikkor 50, but I don't know anything about the voigtlander other than it must be a lot more costly than the Nikkor glass.

You could get 2-3 good lenses for $2k. As someone said, Nikon makes great primes. A nice 35 f2 would be nice. Also, a rokinon 35mm 1.4 or Zeiss zf 35mm 1.4 or rokinon 85mm 1.4 or Zeiss zf 85mm 1.4 all are within your price and are great lenses.

Do you want primes or are you considering zooms?

Hmm before my equipment got jacked i had some old canon glass liked it alot. Maybe i will look into nikon this time.

Evan-Your defiantly right i could get 2-3 good lenses. I am looking for primes but am not a-posed to zooms. Do you know of any good zooms that are relatively fast in a focal length of 35 up to 200?

nikon 80-200 f2.8 ED is about $800 or so depending on what you can find, great lens right there.

I own the Olympus 45mm f/1.8 and 75mm f/1.8. If you can afford it, have a serious look at the 75mm f/1.8. The IQ of this lens is astounding. I also have the Nikon 85mm f/1.8G, which is also very good, but not nearly as sharp as the Olympus. Though for video this might not matter.

The 45mm is cheap and actually really really good despite how plasticky it feels.

However it seems like you are looking more towards the f/1.2 and f/0.95 range. Consider waiting for the Panasonic Leica 42.5mm f/1.2?

Good options here. I am actually looking at some old zeiss jena zebra lenses. Mayby the fletgon 35 2.8. ANy one ever use any of these lenses? I have read some great things and seen some great samples.
