thats all i can think of right now though

They do, but they occasionally play songs you never hear. It's also a good window to hear bands, and if you like them, usually checking out their older stuff is a good start

to keep the Calgary theme going:

Totally drawing blanks on all the cool calgary indie bands. Here's the usuals.

strange modest mouse hasn't been mentioned yet....

and chad vangaalen, TMNT has already been posted but this one deserves honorable mentioning, especially the vid, so trippy fucked up, me gusta! :)

The Gooeys, The Nancees, The Mandates, Ghostkeeper, Women. I know there're more but I'm drawing a blank too.

Bombay Bicycle Club, Islands, Andrew Jackson Jihad, Plants & Animals, The Cat Empire, Kasabian, Said the Whale and Neon Indian are all playing here in the next couple months though so are well worth checking out.

And you're getting this song because it's been stuck in my head all week and people look at me weirdly when I start singing it:

YES some of those bands kill it. holy fuck Neon Indian and Sleigh Bells! that would be a crazy show. too bad they don't let stupid teenagers into the Republik

There's a reason they don't let stupid teenagers into the Republik. Every all age show I've gone to has had a group of high schoolers standing in a circle at the very front of the stage talking loudly and taking myspace pictures of themselves. During the sets. And when I say in a circle, I mean half these girls actually have their backs to the stage the entire time.

One of the most satisfying moments of Sled Island was when a group of them started screaming as they got trampled during the rush to the stage when Of Montreal came on.

That said it was super frustrating when my favourite bands came to town when I was younger. They just need to find some way to teach kids simple concert etiquette and get a wristband system like they do in the US.

i know some good music if i do say so myself, but this thread already has about 3 hours worth of music that nobody's going to sit and listen to, and this post is going to be lost between two 5 video long posts, so there's not much point in me sharing. +1 post count though i guess.
