Help me Choose my F1rst Phone!!! ++Karma for help!

OK so my parents are finally buying me my first phone, I know I'm 16 so this is really really sad but it's not the point.

The point is my parents are going to buy me any phone that I can put a SIM card in from Rogers GSM Network (the Sim card from Rogers)

-THE PHONE CAN BE ANY BRAND

I was thinking the new Sidekick Slide, I found one on eBay for about $250, so I thought that was pretty good.

Any suggestions of good phones people!!!!

I live in Canada, and the pricerange is about up to 275, maybe 325 is pushing it but theres your limits!

sidekicks are sick, look at anything by LG too, i've had 4 different LG phones in the past few years and they've all held up superwell
 
You could go for the iphone 3g. its like a blackberry and its only 199.99 for the 8 gig. id go for that man, all ur friend will be jelous too. hope i helped man.
 
Get the Dare, my friend has it and loves it... i think its by LG and on Verizon plan... check it out
 
hmmmmmmm maybe you got lucky but i know so many people with them and they broke constantly
 
do u people read. he needs a gsm phone. so no cda phones like the dare,env,voyager, or anything that is only on verizon
 
I have the slide, dont get it. If you want a sidekick get the new 2008 one, not the lx just the regular sidekick. The new sidekick allows you to take video and has a 2.0 mp camera w/ flash. the slide has a 1.3 mp camera with no flash, cant take video and the keyboard it hard as hell to use.... you will regret getting it.
 
exactly. and make sure its UNLOCKED! If its not unlocked you cant use it with whatever service you have. If your buying a new sidekick you wont be able to get it unlocked. T-mobile only unlocks a phone after you have had an account with them for 9 months. So if its new, your only option will be to pay $80 for an online unlocking service. Might wanna think that through a little
 
which you can only do with the old ones. imo i would have to say get a blackberry or a treo 750p
 
the env or the env2 are both real nice and strong. the lg dare is the new touchscreen phone by verizon the touch screen is sick and has 3g technology. just like the new iphone
 
yeah i got the env2 and as much as its a chick phone it can hold battery and is a fucking brick i say you get this though

the boulder, best deal out there, shit doesnt break you can throw it off a roof throw it in water or anything and it doesnt break and if it does you get a free phone
 
i jus got my first phone less than a month ago (for my 16th birthday) i got a motorola W755 its just a basic phone that i got for cheap with a contract from verizon but i love it soo much.....
 
deff. the best phone you can buy. my friend uses it as a weapon when ppl say dumb shit... although we haven't tessted it we believe its fireproof
 
yeah i had that its fuckin sick.....until it stops working.....for the second time......and then you crack the screen so they won't warranty that shit.

no but really it IS a sick phone i just got unlucky i guess
 
i know you say you hate touch screens blah blah blah... apple is the only company to get their touchscreen down so far. the iphone 3g or just a regular iphone have sick touch screens. you would not regret the touchscreen smoothness and durability on an iphone. id go with one of the iphones they are pimp.
 
i have the sidekick slide...and i realy like it...im pretty much a texting machine with it..haha

i wish i woulda waited untill the new one came out tho...cuz the new sidekick can take video.......but i like how the side doesnt spin up...the sliding factor is nice
 
i know rogers uses sim cards but im not sure they'll let you use an american's company phone that isnt rogers on there network. you migght have to skeeve a sim card from someone...
 
ya my friend had one there terrible. he would text a message and it would take at least a minute or two for the letters to even show up on his screen
 
i got an iphone 3 weeks ago on a whim with fido just cause it was the cheapest phone i could get with a full keyboard, and trust me i wasnt sold on the idea either but i got it anyways. I have to say man this phone is the best thing ive ever used in my life. It is insanely fast to type on, has an 8gig mp3 and is quite durable, my friend has dropped his a few times. Plus with the touchscreen you can still type with gloves on in the winter, which is really hard to do with a push button phone. Trust me you would never regret getting this phone.
 
What are you looking for? A flip, a slider or a candy bar?

Do you want a keyboard, or are you just wanting to get something as small as possible?

If you get a Sidekick, you need to make sure it is an older model.

The new model (the sliding one) CANNOT be activated on rogers/fido. You definetely should call fido's CS if you end up wanting a sidekick to make sure itll be compatible.
 
the dare, instinct and glide are sick phones but the dare and instinct are touch screens so you wouldnt like them. But they work super dooper well and the touch screen works perfect
 
yeah but its nothing like any other touch screen out there. IMO the dare,the voyager, the instinct all of those new touch screens dont even come cloooseee to being as good as the touch screen on the iphone. Its not slow by any means and you get a bomb ass gps included if you go with the 3g. I would have gotten it no question had i had the money to pay for the internet and shtuff..definetly go with the iphone cause it will continue to be updated with newer better shit while the other phones will just stay shitty

I have an env2 and I suggest it as well. its pretty cheap. help up well so far and its awesome at staying small but easy texting still.
 
i love my LG Voyager, touch screen lik ethe iphone, sick internet(though a little slower then the i phone there doesnt have as big a processer) but when it comes to txt and data you can open it and have a full keyboard liek the enV. that an you get better reception from the voayager as well.

IT all depends on what service you plan on using. I have the RAZR2 and love it. Using bluetooth I can add music and songs from my macbook pro so i can have ring tones and what not. It is super sleak and the front is a touch screen. ITs a dope phone
 
LG chocolate is a great phone, holds like 3 gb of music and video, can take pics and video, is a slider, and decent size screen....about 100$

i also like the lg dare w/ the touch screen, probably 250+$????
