Help me build my dating bot

I taught myself to code last year by building a dating bot in the form of a keyboard (www.datingkeyboard.com). It works across text and dating apps and suggests messages and dates for you so you can carry on with your life without the confusion of dating. at the time, i didnt realize it would turn out so ethically murky, and now im not sure i want to release it. but i also don't want to throw away all those hours.

here's the thing. it's putting words in peoples mouths, you know? i told a few girls i went on dates with about the keyboard and it did not go well. "wait i was flirting with a bot?" "no, no, i have control over the bot" "but you didnt come up with the messages?" i expected it to be provocative, but was still taken aback

it's in beta now. im hoping you guys will share your thoughts

Definitely interesting, I don't know how I feel about letting a bot decide exactly what I say, especially if it's the first conversation I'm having with someone

Is it basically a neural network chatbot like Cleverbot Evie that's specifically tailored to dating? As soon as I get access I'll run it back on Tinder for a night and report back hahaha

If im honest I dont like this idea at all. Seems fucked up to be getting dates because a bot told me stuff to say. Also I wouldn't be stoked to get to a date and find out she hadn't thought of anything to say, and she had a program that analyzed our private conversations.

If you couldn't get the girl with your own words, then shes not the girl for you. Leave it at that.

idk. Not all people are equally gifted at communicating over text, which is a shame, because everyone’s internal monologue is equally valid. Just because I can’t text as well as you shouldn’t mean your feelings are more valid than mine, you know? But in modern dating, text is a mandatory gatekeeper to meeting in person. The keyboard doesn’t communicate for people — it helps people communicate better.

Can't say I'm familiar with Cleverbot Evie. I'll check it out. Say more?

Check it out at https://www.eviebot.com/en/, my boy Michael from Vsauce actually used that exact bot in a blind dating experiment similar to what you're doing which is what made me think of it initially (6:19 in this video)

I performed the same experiment in college. I passed through cleverbot verbatim into tinder to see how girls responded, and they loved it. Its responses were frequently non-sensical, but weirdly girls liked it. They found it mysterious and wanted to know more and would keep the conversation going for quite a while. The takeaway for dating app users is that the worst thing you can be is boring. Even writing literal jibberish is better than asking mundane questions.

i thought you said your coworker developed it?

I did! There was no way i could do it by myself. His idea and I give him full credit. I spent more hours, he did all the teaching/mentoring/reviewing
