Help Locking into rails

I have issues locking into rails. Either what happens is: I go on perfectly straight and I straddle the middle of the rail, and I end up sliding off towers my heels, and I need to line my left ski up with the rail and get on for left foot forward, this works, but is weird. Or if i urban into stuff I just can’t seem to be able to get on top of it, and again slip off towards my heels. This is super frustrating and is really fucking up my progression. Help wanted

dont straddle rails ony 'urban' hit them its the only proper way. if you cant seem to be able to get on top of it then jump higher/commit toe side more

Make sure your balance is solid on your approach to the rail. I was an instructor for 6 years and even people who were convinced they had good balance actually didn’t, so it can be hard to realize your balance is bad but it’s critical for all park skiing and really skiing in general…

Think about any other sport for a second- if you want to jump and land in control, your knees need to be bent and your weight needs to be over your toes. The same is true for skiing. In order to have full control of your skis, your center of gravity (your hips) need to be over your toes and you need an athletic bend in your knees. This is called having a forward stance and there are tons of YouTube videos on it.

Once you ensure you have a good forward athletic stance on your approach, pop over the rail while keeping an eye on the end of the rail. Being balanced during the takeoff should keep you in control when you land. If you’re still having issues with sliding off on your heel side, try to overcompensate at first by practically jumping over the rail to come off toe side, that might give you a better feel for where to align yourself to stay centered. Hope that helps!

Video would help here! But yeah as mentioned above try urban style instead of straddle! Also if your pop is bad or missing things then your rail will automatically be off
