i looked with the search bar but i can't really find answers to all my questions. im newb at this

ok so question 1. To create time lapse segments do i have to have a video camera that has time lapse capabilities? is there any way to just speed up normal footage to the point where it would appear somewhat like a time lapse? for driving segments? currently i have windows seven so i am using that model of windows movie maker are there other free editing software could i use that would be significantly better?

All that I did to make this was:

1. Film the clouds with my canon hf10 for an hour and 40 minutes.

2. Upload to my computer. (of course this takes a long time for a 120 minute clip)

3. Speed it up to a 15 second clip in final cut express.

4. Add pan, zoom, and film burn in final cut.

5. Export.
