Help! how are you guys working with GO Pro and Final Cut

Just shot some footy on my go pro but Final cut express hates the .mp4 files, i am converting them using quicktime but it is taking ages. Any tips, I search bar'd but couldnt find an answer
Also the batt died after 10 mins is this normal?
 
The battery dying after 10 mins in use? No that is not normal, make sure the red light is on when your charging and it does not say USB, its not charging when it like that.
 
my buddie's dies like that sometimes (non lithium ion bat) bt you just have to take the batteries you , roll them in your hands for a second and then switch them around and it works just like new haha . good luck with the editing , im too pissed off at adobe premire pro right now with my slow ass computer. is the final cut a bit faster to use (more like movie maker) cuz i can edit fine with movie maker it just takes way to long on adobe because the file on there play back way more choppy than i hoped. i just wish movie maker havd vidio layers
