Alright heres the deal, ive got a good friend at school who really wants to get into skiing this year. He has never skied or boarded before. He is about 6feet and 160 lbs. Size 12 shoes. Pretty athletic.

He needs cheap gear to help him get started as he doesnt have loads of money at the moment. I am trying to find him some gear, hopefully that would have a couple of seasons of life left. He needs skis, bindings, and boots all in about the $300 and under range. He is a new skier so it doesnt have to be anything special, but also please dont just offer equiptment that is beat to shit and has no life left. Please let me know if youve got anything that i could consider for him. WE NEED TO GET MORE PEOPLE INTO THIS GREAT SPORT! Thanks much

300 dollar budget is pretty low to get everything but keep searching, i'm sure someone here has some extra equipment laying around. But if you don't mind spending a little more money you can pick up some new 05/06 skis for around $200, bindings for $100, and then you still need boots

sry would help him but i dont hav anything spare laying around at the moment, but if do hav somethin later on in the season i'll tell ya

ya i know 300 its a pretty lowball price but thats about what he can get in with for now. I figured i might be able to get him a pair of skis, used for a couple seasons, with used bindings, for under 200 then maby a used pair of boots for 150 or below.

yea if he's never skiied or boarded you may be better off renting, some places can give you full season rental deals

I will sell you some 06 179 k2 publics in good condition, no base or edge damage, just a few light scratches, with marker 1400s for $325. I look at deals on the internet 24/7, trust me, this is a good deal.

you guys are trippin, 300 is enough to get a decent setup, and dude ^^ nothing with marker 1400's on it is worth 325$...

just keep an eye out in the ski equipment forum, i see used ski's with good bindings (p12's) for around 200 all the time, that leaves 100 for boots, have your friend fitted at a local shop then hit up ebay or online stores and get them for cheaper. there's no need for him to buy new skis really, he doesnt even know if he really likes it yet, and if he does then he can grab a new pair next season.

i wasn't even trying to get a cheap set up but i got my fujatives with rossi 120's barely used for 150 and my boots were 100 and i've been skiing for like 10 years.

I have a Line Prophet 80 185cm. I can sell him for $190 including shipping. There is some scratches from skiing moguls and there is al ot of life left in them. I might be able to find some bindings too.

$300 is a pretty lowball budget. You might get together a pair of bindings/skis but boots alone often start at that price...

good luck

ive got some 176 line skogan sprangs, the orange and blue ones with a train on them.  only used for 2 seasons.  have decent salomon bindings.  the ony thing is that i didnt clean them off and they sat for a while so the edges around the tail have some rust on them.  if you clean and sharpened them they would be good to go.  only want 140

Exactly what i was thinking. I was guessing i could find a pretty nice pair of used skis for 150 to 200 and find some boots at around 150 or less for sure.

yeah man marker sucks, I dont know how seth and all those other pros stay in those things. They must have some speical bindings not on the market.

I have some Lange Epsylon 95 boots that are laying around. They are like spk's but more beginner oriented, perfect for park/learning to ski. Size 29.5, will work for size 12 foot. PM me if you're interested.

i got a pair of Rossi Actys 100 with axium bindings. only used for one season, 162cm might be a little small for him but he is a beginner. asking $130 shipped

get him in some proper fitting boots for a couple of hundred (dont need to be high performance..just something that fits so he actually enjoys being on the mountain all day)

then try and score a pair of used skis here for $150 or something, alternately rent skis for this season and look at getting a ski/binding setup next year.

$300 would be hard to get fully equipped for a season..has he got outerwear? cos that will obviously run some $ as well
