Aye I’m 16 115-120 lbs 5’5” got some 164 armada edollos 2019 can’t flex them for shit any tips last skis I had were some soft core kids skis could flex but that doesn’t mean much. I’m tryna learn butters and it’s been tough this season even though dollos are said to be pretty soft.

Dude im 16 but twice ur weight lol but when you want to butter make sure you fully commit to it. Lean over your noses. I started to get the hang of it this past szn. It will be intimidating but trust your bindings and i wouldn’t recommend going under a din of 6 to butter.

stiffer/smaller boots? i have a friend who couldnt butter vishnus but then he sized down his boots and went from 90 to 110 flex and is now a slarve god

moral of the story is buy full tilts

I'm about your weight and a little shorter than you. You need to fully commit and throw your entire body into it. Also (at least for me) I've found it easier to butter on longer skis (I ride 172 ARV 106s for park).

Your never gonna “press “ flex them enough for butters at your weight, it’s not a strength thing best you can do is ride your tips switch , take all above advice , steep slope with a roller and some pow will be your best start , maybe consider a longer softer ski like a demo blend for a cheap learner or even permanent

Practice standing butter with your poles , u can do this on carpet and I imagine you will see you can get up but those babies won’t press at your weight

i made this type of thread when i was like 14, the answer was just to get gud honestly it will come wit time

Butters have a lot to do with momentum (speed) and the way you throw your weight into it. It's much easier to get a good press when you're going faster and there's more forces at work. Also then you throw your body into it, yes full commit is necessary, but also staying forward and trusting your skis to hold you is important.

I have feet that are ~273mm long, I ski size 27.5 mid width 130 flex boots, weigh 200 pounds, and can barely flex Blends. Am I disabled???

I probably am. I mean, I can flex them, but not a ton. Hopefully it's just in my form...?

I don't ski very much every year so I don't have a lot of time to practice buttering. I believe I can nose pivot though.

I hear you as I myself just learned and can barely butter but I can

It’s def in your form blends r super soft , my boots are 130s my skis are 179-193 , and I’m 200 ish most the time

Watch some YouTube vids you should be able to spy what your issue is as well as they are fun to watch, there’s lots of skiing tutorials for butters etc

Then push that fear away and fully commit

Stop bitching about it. I've nosebuttered GS skis when I raced. For the fear do what I did by accident, have your dins low because rental skis or some dumb stuff, nosebutter and double eject to your face. You will realize that it doesn't hurt

Lmao ? been there but yah it was my own damn fault

Try doing that outside of powder , I destroyed a mips helmet on our east coast hard pack , not off a butter, I backslapped my head on an icy roller , but still point is packed snow = hard
