HELP! Change my setup (currently on on3p wrenegade)

Hello all,

I'm in a bit of a tight spot.

So I'm moving down to Chile soon and will be skiing around the San Carlos de Bariloche area in Argentina this July. I plan on touring a bunch near Refugio Frey to save $$$ and avoid buying lift tickets..

I am worried that my setup will be too heavy and will be much of a powder ski rather than a decent and versatile touring ski.

I must finalize my setup prior to leaving in a few weeks because it will be a bit difficult to purchase gear and mount bindings while im down there.

Currently my setup is

176 ON3P Wrenegade 112 w Marker Baron 13 EPF

i am 5'8 140lbs and very new to touring.

I am concerned that this setup will be very heavy. Additionally, the Wrenegade is a directional ski with some gnarly tip rocker. I've ridden them several times in bounds and the turn radius is beautiful and floats great.

weight is about 4.78 kg/ski+binding (2.18kg/ski + 2.6kg/baron) or about 10 lbs per ski..

I want a ski that is more playful than the Wrenegade and can handle both some fresh snow, but can also deal with days when there is little fresh snow. I am thinking of something around 100-104 underfoot, twin tip? (unsure if i want directional or not), a bit more flex and camber.

Any recommendations on other skis? Do I take apart this setup and look for something new? Any and all help is very much appreciated!!!

k2 Marksmen with Barons?

opposed to the wrenegade - it cut the weight, a bit of camber, less underfoot, more versatile?

Are you thinking of going to a tech setup at all?

Probably in the future, but not for this trip.

I don't have tech boots, the marker barons are new, and still new to touring.

doesnt work.

If you wanna stick to frame touring bindings you can mount them on any ski regardless of its weight. dont even try to save weight. My old setup weighed around 12kg without skins and touring up to 1k vertical meters wasnt too bad.

tl;dr: buy a tech or CAST setup and screw the frame touring bindings

and keep the wrenegade 112. definitely a must have in my quiver

If you re looking for more playful ski, you ll have in general a ski with more tail and tip rocker than your Wrenegade. The ski is more nimble and easier to turn, but the hard pack performance downhill and touring up hill is definitely not as good.

You have less grip while skinning. Especially on wind blown surfaces. You should consider this if you re not only focused on soft snow touring.
