Hey I just bought a pair of Atomic deep powder rock skis. here is the thing. The bindings are mounted a not in the middle of the ski but an cm off closer to the side of the ski. Does anyone know why.

I know I have to get the things remounted cause the skis are mounted differently (ie both pair mounted more to the right side) and (knew before I bought) but when I remount them does anyone know why they wouldnt be mounted in the middle.

specs 135 115 125

They are used heli skis and they were only mounted once done this way.

yea, thats kinda weird. I have heard, and seen of people that mount there fat heli boards, a little to one side or another. But not both to one side, it would be more like right ski mounted a little right, and left ski mounted a little left. It also could just be a fuckup, sometimes when mounting big boards like that you have to eyeball shit. I know when i mounted my fischer big stix 106, that i had to have then entire jig sitting ON TOP of the ski, not clamped on, because the clamps dont open wide enough on the jig. But with a little math, and some smarts, i got my salomons mounted on there straight.

just remount them, it wont hurt them at all

Thanks I thought and also knew I would have to remount the bindings, also the din is only 10. The bindings will go to the lady.

I am wondering if I should mount them straight in the middle or a little to the side. What are your thoughts

I would go straight in the middle, just because it makes the most sence. Also, if you ever clip a rock and blow out an edge, when you replace it you want it always on your outside foot. So if you mount them off center, and you blow an inside edge, then they will be all fucked up, ya know? just mount center center.

Ohh, those skis sound sick to man, props.

NOOOOO! Don't go to the middle!! I'm guessing you bought them from Mtnlion off of powmag. Anyway, they're supposed to be like that. Think about turning that much ski underneath you. Your downhill ski needs less surface area from the edge so you can turn that hog over! My buddies and me all have skis 110+ underfoot and all bindings are mounted 2mm from the center. TRUST ME, it's supposed to be like that.

 
Yeah your right about who I bough them from but...

One both ski mounted the same both to the right side. one of the bindings have to be remounted.

So your saying that they should be more to one side. PS these skis will only see BC powder. Where I ski no one skis powder. I get off the lift head about 100meters and dive in. even the run out is right at the bottom. They will only see hard packed 5% of the time. Will these facts change the mounting.

PS my regular skis are lbfs these are just toys for playing around.

No, the fact that they see only 5% groomers doesn't change the mounting position. Those skis are designed (and mounted) to ski 100% bottomless snow. You should get one of them remounted to the left....if you take them to a shop that has some BC skis they should be able to do it for about $15. Good luck

 
Yeah the mntlion said some what the same today.

He said he didnt check that. He also said it depends on what you like. i will try a little to the side. I have to buy new bindings now.

PS I live in Japan so it wont cost me 15 bucks maybe 2000 yen.
