Help! Atomic Bent Chetler...

What up everyone. I just bought the Bent Chetler. I'm 6 foot 195 and am trying to figure out where the fuck to mount this sucka. I like skiing switch, but I'm also a decently heavy and am a pretty aggressive rider. My first intuition was to go with the center mount, but am thinking maybe -3 so i don't have to worry about tip dive (and yes it can happen with a rockr'd ski) with a center mount, depending on how heavy you are. Anyone got ideas...?? I would really appreciate the input. Thanks!

Is the bentchetler symmetrical? If so, id say center. Also if you know your going to be doing a lot of switch stuff, booters/ 180s.

If not and your just lookin to shred hard.. maybe a bit back would be good.

I was talking to Durtschi and he mounts his center, personally ive never skied them but i do alot of backcountry booter's and center mounts perfect for that, but when your making turns in the fresh stuff your gonna wish they were mounted back a bit. Like when dropping cliffs and skiing pow it is way more enjoyable to have a ski that floats and doesnt tip dive.i would mount it back a bit unless all your doing is jumps, its way more fun to ski pow forward then switch.

In reply to a comment above, no this is not a symetrical ski, so thats not a reason to mount it center. Chris Bentchetler reccomends -2 for all mountain riding.

Most of the guys over on TGR have agreed that -2.5 is a good spot... probably where I'm gonna end up mounting mine.

I skied them at recommended and didn't want them any more forward. They are so short to start with that losing any more tip will make them seem even shorter. If TGR guys are saying -2.5, I am guessing they have tried a few and that is going to be best(don't know where reco. is). I'm 6'1" and 170-175(probably 165 last season when I skied them) and they felt way too short for me to justify buying them...super poppy in pow though.

I would say 2 or 2.5 behind center. We are very similar in size, and I personally ride mine at 1.5 behind center.. I've ridden a pair at center, 2, 2.5, and 1.5, and loved them all, but for all around/ all the time, 2 was the way to go. Hope that helps my friend, and thank you very much for the support. Hope you enjoy them.
Cheers,
CB

Im glad i decided to go 2 back from center before i saw this thread, guess it was a good choice.

cant wait to get out to Oregon and actually use them!

some people like big powder skis

my friend is 5'7" and he wants to get 190's

hes a strong skier, but its the east coast

i think its stupid, but we'll see this season

i think it depends what you plan to use them for too. They're a little short for pure charging, but i ski them all mountain and in the park a lot too. i love em though. I ski em .5 back by the way.

Chris Benchetler recommended I mount at -2.5 I still do tonnes of switch riding. Durtschi and Ian Cosco mount theirs at center because they are using them totally for jumping. -2.5 Is super banger. You will be happy with it!

ok this is how it goes........ go buy shizzo bindings if you want to ski deep pow and ski a ton of switch i have a pair and they are great.

I would like to get the Bents too, I'm 6"4 or so and I'm like 180-185lbs or so. I should probably get the 193 bents, but I'm still undecided!

Is the mount recommendation for 192s the same as 183s as above, i.e. is

-2 to -2.5 still about right for directional use? Maybe CB hisself is

still watching the thread and has an opinion...?

I've been wondering this too. I'll probably be getting the 192 Bents and I think I'm going to mount them -1.5...Seems like the way to go. Be able to charge and ski switch. Talkin' about the 192 here btw.

Have the 192s. There's a line marked "center", and 2.5 cm behind that is a line marked "team". When people say -2.5 cm, does that mean at the "team" line? Even that seems very far forward.

I'm 6'1 175lbs, getting the 192s and mounting them one line forward of the Team line. Looks golden there.
