I'm pretty new to anything touring, i'd consider my self a really solid skier, but only started getting into any backcountry at all last year. I've got a sweet nordic setup with 3 pin bindings/boots, wax skis and half length skins. I've mostly been cruising around on those in mellow areas, and its actually ridiculously fun to do some oldschool tele turns on mellow slopes.

and I'm using the cast system on my resort skis, with scarpa freedom rs's, I'm getting into a little more actual terrain with those, and do a lot of resort up and down laps, but I want to keep it easy until i find some experienced people to go with. I think that'll be a good setup for when i'm skiing steeper more gnarly terrain, but i dont think i've got the experience for that yet.

So I'm looking for a ski/binding/boot setup that pretty much right inbetween, something that lets me actually edge well on the way down, and i can be confident in at speed and dont completely suck if it gets a little gnarly. but more importantly, really prioritized the ups and speed while touring, and just being able to get me anywhere well. i'll probably use this setup mostly for skinning up the resort after hours, and for long days exploring around BC areas, taking it a little easier on descents.

this is such a new world to me, im pretty lost when it comes to this stuff. even if i know the kind of binding, ski, boots, etc. I can then find the specific models i want.

I like my Scarpa Freedom SL 120, but find whatever fits your foot. Be sure you get boots sized by a competent shop because your feet expand half a size when touring, so getting the right fit can be more of a challenge.

I like my Marker Kingpins, but check out the latest Atomic/Salomon bindings. Either of these you won't find on sale FYI

Find a lighter ski that does what you want it to you. And pick a size down from your normal skis to reduce weight if uphill is your main concern.

Scarpa F1 (if avg-wide width foot.or Arcteryx Procline for narrow foot (don't get the alien RS, its cold and sucks poop at skiing downhill)

Salomon/Atomic MTN/Backland or Dynafit TLT Speed

Voile Ultravector or Kastle TX90
