Helmets

I cant understand why people are hitting 80ft jumps in just hats.

I wear a helmet and although i agree that hats loooook sick.

just wanted to hear everyone's opinions

I wear mine 90% of the time. Last time I didnt I forgot it and I was hitting the 55 footer fine but not throwing anything huge.

I did hit a layed down tree though and almost broke my femur

First triple cork ever done (besides aerials) was done on a snowboard with a beanie on...it's not something new.

It comes down to what the rider feels is the right thing at the right time, most of those guys have hit those jumps and done those tricks a whole bunch of times, sure accidents can happen, but they're comfortable with the jumps and tricks and don't feel that a helmet is necessary. That being said, I don't hit jumps without a helmet...it's just personal policy of mine...to each their own.

yeah i guess it is just how they feel at the time.

Personally if i am not wearing a helmet i feel so sketchy! Its just reassuring i guess

the only time i dont feel sketchy without a helmet is backyards. everywhere else im too scared to do anything

STEPT doesn't wear oneTechnine doesn't wear one

John Ware doesn't wear one

Parker White doesn't wear one

Simon Ericcson doesn't wear one

Andrew Holson doesn't wear one

Mike Hornbeck doesn't wear one

why should I ever wear one then?

Cant tell if serious.

If so, then wear one because its smart, my friend hit his head on a rock and got 15 stitches not wearing his helmet. He had worn it the entire day then took it off for the last run down, when it happened. He's alright, but was a scary situation.

I guess, moral of the story is you never know when something can go wrong, and as much as you think you are prepared your not. The dome piece is so important. I started this year with no helmet because I thought it was cool, but after that ^ happened I've worn mine almost everyday.

because you suck,

also though if they fall on a jump say 75 feet a helemt wont do anything, your dead both times

fell and smacked my head on ice while wearing a helmet. cracked it. still couldn't remember how old i was when i had to fill out forms at ski patrol. i wouldn't be writing this now if i hadn't been wearing it. to me, not wearing a helmet when skiing park is not even remotely worth any additional comfort or style.

Right, because no skier has ever crashed on a 75 foot jump before and survived. RIP Candide, Simon, Tanner....yeah.

I always wear my helmet when im trying tricks, but I'm considering taking a few mellow laps tomorrow without it. Just gotta be cautious without one on.

Learned to ski a million years ago and no one wore helmets at all. All the young kids have them, but its just preference. I can't weawr one, just never have and wont. More power to you kids who do

I went down hard one day when it was cold and icey, my helmet saved me from a serious concussion, so I will always wear a helmet when it is icey out.

When it is warm and slushy it is obviously safer to wear a helmet, but it sometimes gets really hot, and the snow is soft.

i doubt a helmet would have protected your femur...

when i don't wear a helmet i'm usually taking it easy, doing tricks i know i can either stomp or bail with ease. but i would also agree that wearing a helmet is smart.

It might have. You never know.

And I ageee with wearing a helmet. If I didn't I would be dead.

I kinda have a bad thing for hitting trees and hit one with the back of my head after falling already.

The er doctor said I should have died even with it on.

I stopped wearing a helmet this year, which is also the hardest I have ever thrown down. To me it is freeing to not wear a helmet and makes it more fun. I don't wear it on urban or big jumps or pow or anything because it makes shots look cooler in my mind. That being said it is an ignorant attitude and i understand why people wear them

I forgot to bring my helmet on a ski trip, and i felt scared as shit the whole time. Makes it harder to go out of your comfort zone if you arent wearing a helmet, at least for me

yeah man i think concussions and head injuries are steezy too. i mean the weed and dreadlocks should do enough to protect your head anyway.

This was my first year doing any sort of park skiing. I screwed myself hitting a shitty jump and hit my head so hard my goggles gave me a black eye and I got a mild concussiom. Can't imagine what the result would've been without a helmet.

Haven't not worn a helmet for years, just seems irresponsible, not point ruining a season just for the sake of trying to look like a pro when you're not. They can because they have done it for years and have such a small chance of bailing

he was doing a dub 10 on like a 60(?) and it was super windy so who wouldn't wear a helmet in that situation, anyway? he's damn lucky, it could've gone either way

I can't remember a time (except backyard) that I have not had a helmet on while skiing. It has saved my ass countless times.
