that one thread on the urban skier that died because he didn't wear a helmet should make u want to wear one

to be honest i dont have a good reason. i dont mind wearing mine. im 24, i wore one when i raced because i was forced to. i quit skiing competitively when they tried to make us wear them at all times.

i trust my own abilities. i rarely ski outside my element. if i catch an edge going mac10 on a groomer im not gonna die. and im not going to catch an edge so i dont worry about it. trees is it for my helmet wearing

that's pretty fucking scary, but there's still going to be people on this site who get pissed off and call people bigots when they tell them to wear a helmet

most of the helmets out there are under $200, the first year of being a paraplegic on average costs $152,000, the first year of being a quadriplegic on average costs $417,000

for the love of God, put a helmet on kids

the crashes that would be forceful enough to paralyze me wouldnt be helped at all by a helmet. a helmet would lessen the severeity of concussion...but not by a whole lot.

I have taken some gnarly, out of control, high speed falls in some bad places and never hit my head on anything. I have wiley coyote'ed a tree and didnt have a scratch on my face. It is completely natural instinct protect my head at all costs.

Isint it something like the eps helmets are only certified up to 15mph? and that number would go down the bigger you are. hard hats do almost nothing other than preventing a cut or bruise to your head.

also, the rate of injuries while wearing a helmet is way higher than when not wearing one. FACT. haha

All that said, i wear a hardhat because i, for some reason, get hit in the head about once every two time to the mtn, while loading the fucking chairlift. either get decked by the chair arm or someone pulls the bar down on me.

seriously seizures are some of the most scary things, i was in my friends car driving with him when he started seizing, one of the scariest fucking moments of my life, its even worse because u cant do anything for them until its over

When I was young my ski club always forced us to wear helmets and since it was a racing club the helmets were full shell and super uncomfortable. So when I left the club I was excited to not wear a helmet so for quite a few years i just never wore one, i wasn't into proper park/rails at the time so i didn't have any problems. 2 years ago though I overshot a jump and smacked my head on hard snow, i wasn't wearing a helmet at the time and it really made me realise that helmets are fucking important. Since I bought a nice comfy helmet i've had loads of falls where I would have really hurt my head if I wasn't wearing one + it gives me confidence to try new things.

normally speaking i always wear one, only times i don't is when it's spring or just super nice weather and i'm casually skiing around with my girlfriend....

for teaching it varies, i feel like i have a function as a rollmodel so i should encourage them to wear helmets, but on the other hand i feel i have a better form without it and i can hear the kids better....

Yo those are the stupidest fucking kids i have ever seen.

Your friend bangs his head on concrete and has a seizure, and you dont "think" you need an ambulence? ARE you fucking kidding me?

Seeing that just reinforced my desire to always wear a helmet...that was crazy I hope he ended up okay

always when i see a guy with no helmet skiing, i instantly think hes a stupid gaper. I think helmet looks alot cooler, its not cool to look worse, and risk your life.

This. That kid has been on her for like 2 months and almost has a thousand posts... I've been on her for a year and have like 700 something. But I hope this guys okay

this holy fuck i was starting to think about not wearing one in powder or on easy tricks but this just changed my mind helmets for life.
