ski anywhere but the park and you’ll look dumb, but throw an old Saga hockey jersey on or something and it may be semi stylish who knows

All due respect... this couldn't be further from true. Helmets with MIPS tech or koroyd will make a world of difference even from standard ski helmets. Invest in something legit, your dome is the most important asset in your body.
 
I saw a study that showed putting a plastic bag over your head and tying it at the base around your neck works better than SHMIPS
 
as far as I'm concerned dreads can protect ur head pre good.

Although if you hit it too much you might notice incessant barking
 
Nah, protect your brain with an actual skiing helmet. Your hockey helmet likely isn't made for potential impacts at 50mph+ speeds. I'm all for saving money on gear but you might want to cough up the money this time.

First, protect your dome with a decent helmet made for skiing

Second, don't wear the hockey lid without the cage. You'll look like a fuck.

I actually saw my math teacher at Keystone a few weeks back. He had a baseball helmet on, and he told me that he had just been in a collision where he had gotten hit and fell backward, hitting his head pretty hard. I don't know if he was concussed or not but you should by a ski helmet. From what I can tell, different helmets protect against different types of impacts. Any helmet is better than no helmet but I'm pretty sure a baseball helmet is made to protect a batter from being hit from wild pitches, not catching an edge while blasting a groomer. Look for a helmet with the MIPS system as well, all though it usually has a higher price point. Plus ski helmets add extra insulation to keep you warm.

A good helmet is Like a lawyer, you hope you'll never need it but you'll be glad you have one when you do.

Also the foam in hockey helmets is softer and meant for smaller impacts at a higher rate. Most skiing/snowboarding helmets have a harder foam that is meant to break away at high impacts, basically taking the force into the helmet rather then your head. Hope this helps G.

You can buy just the plastic insert and put it into any baseball cap. Our operators here at work wear them for part of their PP&E
