I took a really hard hit on my helmet and got a concussion, but I heard that even though the helmet looks fine its not going to work as it should after the first big hit and that I should get a new one, how true is this?

 
this is true, they are not multi impact helmets, if the foam on the instead is crushed or cracked, if you take another big spill and smoke your head, the helmet will not offer the same protection.

its worth it anyway. This weekend a friend of mine took a shot to the head and was knocked out. He wasn't wearing a helmet and that was some scary shit. He came back later that night with a helmet on and did the same thing and was fine. It's worth it just to listen and buy a new helmet.

 
You can't re-use your helmet...unless you were one of the smart people that bought a Pro-Tec with the sXp foam. It rebounds after impact so you can thrash your head multiple times and not have to buy a new one.

I dont know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
