Helmet question

Actually a legit question. I dont know with ski helmets, but with motorcycle helmets for example it is not put stickers on as they can actually make the helmet weaker. I don't think spraying them makes a big difference though.
 
Your not moving at anywhere near the speed of a motorcycle when skiing, and the main reason the stickers make a motorcycle weaker is because of the air resistance they can cause when they peel/If they are just thick stickers...etc. It puts strain on the helmet where it shouldn't be. You'll have no problem with a ski helmet at all. Don't lick the spray paint, good tip.
 
ive heard that some of the chemicals in spray paint could possibly affect your helmet, maybe try googleing it tho
 
Im pretty sure your not reaching highway speeds with your ski helmet.. I've never seen anyone hit 100km/h skiing that isn't like bode miller or some shit. Even then I've seen some of the female skiers putting stickers on their helmets when they race... You'll have no problem. Just figure out what material the helmet is, get some proper paint, and clear coat it when your done.. Or just e-mail Bern and ask them if it would damage the helmet.
 
Technically yes. The propellant and solvents in spray paint that keep it in liquid form will try to dissolve the plastic shell to the helmet and even more so on the foam in the helmet. The spray paint will literally eat away at the foam if you spray it on there and weaken the plastic on the shell. Stickers can have the same effect just at a much smaller scale. And you can trust me because I am a chemical engineer and organic chemist, now does it have a large enough effect to really damage the helmet and make it less safe...maybe not but some damage is done.
