keep in mind that the 179 actually a lot longer than 179cm - probably somewhere around 182-3cm tip to tail... the 179 Seth measures true, and I had it next to the HB which was easily 3-4 cms longer... it is a ton of fun, and for as big as it is, it's pretty damn versatile - can be skied in total control on groomers/back to the lift - one of our team riders, Jonny Scott, skied them in the park and was fine on them, but he's not really mortal.

Oh god no, please dont do that to those nice new skis.... get a pair of heavily used used first gens if you must, stair rockering will fuck them up so bad...
yeah, remember due to rocker they ski super short. McConkey was talking about rockered skis on TGR and basically said take the length you normally ski and add 10cm to get the length you should be on. After skied on some rockered skis, I couldn't agree more. Go with the 189 for sure. They will be as manuverable as a 179 when you need them to be and the extra length will give you a lot more support when you really need it.

and.....NOT saying you should do this, but you can effectively add rocker to your skis with some stairs and a little creativity. I wouldn't do it on new skis, though, and it would work better if you found something with metal in it.

Hopefully those last two work. Some old atomic pow pluses, rossi axiom, etc, will work well for this. Just dont kill yourself doing it....

I have heard the opposite. that in fact you can get away with a shorter ski becuse the rocker does the same as a longer tip would for sfot snow conditions. for this reason I was thinking of going with the 184 instead of the 189. realisticly I would want both and I have heard that they might be making a 174 as well. that could be fun fo jibing off of things.

so i´m about 5,9 should i get the 179 or the 189???
I would say it totally depends on your weight... If you're under about 160-70lbs you can definitely ski the 179... BUT, if the only skiing you'll be doing on them is big mountain pow schralping (like Alaska/British Columbia) then you could ski the 89 for sure... I've got one of team riders on them and he's about 5'11" 180lbs and he skis the 179 regularly and it's fine for him, but he could ski the 189 no problem... I'm 5'9" 155lbs and I ski the 179, but I'm also in Colorado, so if I were skiing them in AK/BC I'd ski the 189

yeah cause im about 5, 8 tall and im looking at getting a pair of hellbents. i wiegh about 155ish. do you guys think the 179?(what i was originally thinking). or the mysterious 174? i want to ski mostly pow on these in montana. but some jibbing too....
I haven't heard anything about a 174, which means nothing though. I think bringing in a 169 is slightly more likely.
Here's what wouldn't surprise me one bit: K2 does one of two things for next year (08/09) - 1) they bring back the Maiden AK in a full production run; they have a huge gap in their big mountain ski line now that they go directly from the Seth at 98mm under foot to the HB at 122mm under foot with nothing inbetween, or 2) they bring into production the ski that they already have a mold built for - the Maiden with the same rocker pattern as the HB - that way they cover all new aspects of progressive skis with one model - 108mm under foot and a sick rockered ski. That would be my choice for sure - I've skied the Maiden and I've skied the rockered Maiden and the rockered version is the tits.

yeah i just watched the SIA video of the ep pro skis(line) and i dont really underdstand the difference in early rise and rockered camber. it seems like the same thing to me. can anyone explain?
