Hellbent questions

soooo 179 or 189??? I am 6 foot maybe 1 and I prolly weigh around 155-165, and am definately looking to do tricks and land into deeper snow backwards occasionally. I was leaning towards 189 but then I didn't know if it would be reeel hard to whip around spins. Also i heard that k2 only measures the effective ski so the 179 is really 183 or sumtin???

If you only weight 155 lbs. the 189cm might be a bit much. Especially for spinning tricks and tight trees. Depends on how strong you are.

hellbents measure 5 cm longer than they are and they're fat and pretty heavy but that being said they ski really short because of the rocker. i would say go with the 189 because of your height, they'll feel big and floppy sometimes but i think you'll be happier with the extra length

5'8" and 1,89m Hellbent good for the park?

You might be the Glen Plake of 2010!

PS. Plake rode 1,15m K2 in moguls until 2002. Then shorter skis by Elan.

Thats what I was thinking!

Back to the OP, if you are looking at spinning tricks and stuff I would go 179 for sure. Defiantly at 155lbs. And yes, they do measure long, so you're looking at about a 182cm-183 anyway with the 179

the 179 hellbents are pretty much exactly the same size as my 185 ep pros. k2 definitely has a different method for measuring those hellbents. the 189s are similar in length to 195 motherships.

K2 does cord measurement, meaning they measure from tip to tail, with no sag in the tape. That makes my 189s measure 195 due to the rocker.

im 6 feet 175, i have my 189s set up with sth16s. i don't find them overly heavy cept in the park. they just lag at real slow speeds. if you have em centre mounted then go bigger if not get the 179. don't get be wrong i love mine and would be my ski of choise in anything but real hard snow and park.

to the guy at 5,8 or something and 125 - id be pretty impressed to see you rip hard in anything but champagne pow. those are big skis for someone your size.

its kinda a toss up it seems... 179 would be good if your wanting the ski for more tricks and such.. but at the same time the 189 could still work for you. But all the hellbent models are measured short so like they are all techqnically (sp) about 3 or so cm's bigger than they say.

Im 5'4" 135lbs about and i had the 179 bents and found they were a little too long for what i wanted them for.. I found them less playful than i wanted them to be. So i got the 169's and now i love them for almost everything! The 169 just is more playful and easier to throw around for me.

But it also just comes down to personal preference in the end. Hope that helped a little.

im 5 11 and weigh around 145 lbs and i have a pair of 179 bents and they keep me afloat perfectly especially in the deep days... if your going to just ski pow and NOTHING ELSE id say 189 mounted 2 or 4 back but if you wanna throw flips and ski park like i do but still shred the pow get the 179s... i was surprised how well they handled boxes and rails... either way your going to love these skis
