Height decisions

So, I'm currently 5'8", or 173cm. I've found a couple of pairs of skis and I'm just a little skeptical on them either being too short or too big for jibbing and shit. One pair is 163cm, and I'm wondering if that is too short for me. The other pair is 171cm and I'd like to know if this is a good height(even if it is short than my actual height) for freestyle skiing. My old suspects are 161cm and I've used them for a year, but they're fucked now so I need new ones.

Basically what I'm asking is if I should get skis that are taller than me, or maybe even a little shorter. I like rails/boxes more than jumps, so I don't know if the length of skis affects rails or not or anything like that, I don't know.

Thanks.

are you done growing yet? I would not recommend anything in the 160's even if you are done growing. If you are still growing i'd say go with a 176 and grow into it.

I doubt I am done growing yet. I haven't grown very much in the past two years or so, but I am only 16, so I'd assume I've got some more growing to do. Because of how slow I'm growing, would 171s suffice for like, two years? I managed with 161s for quite some time, sooo...

i would bet that you are probably going to have another growth spurt before too long. I'd say 176 just to be safe, they will feel a little long at first but you will get used to them fast. they would only be 2.5cm longer on each end than a 171 which really isnt all that much. And if you do end up growing and expect a 171 to last you a couple seasons they will be looking like ski blades on you by the end

Remember that you should take into consideration your weight as well when choosing ski length.

That said, I wouldn't really recommend buying 163cm park skis at your height, especially if you are still growing. The 171 would probably be a better choice of those two, but it really depends on your personal preferences and riding style. What skis are you looking at?
