Heel wear on Full Tilts?

I have a pair of full tilt drop kicks. This is the second time I have had to replace the heel pieces, because they are made of rubber and they just wear out horribly. Kind of sucks because that's an extra $16 that I shouldn't have to spend.

I have no doubt the majority of this wear is from mt hood and all the hiking between runs, but I'm curious to see if anyone else has had this problem and if they know a way to fix it.

I guess it's full tilt's way of saying, "Hey, give us more money or your boots wont fit in your bindings anymore!"

I'm on the 5th season of my Drop kicks and still haven't replaced the original rubber heel pieces so I'd say they're pretty damn durable. Why'd you replace them the first time? Shop recommendation? I've had shops say I need to replace my heels after ~25 days but I have ~200 days on another pair and yet the heels are fine

Well to be fair the first replacements were on another pair of dropkicks. It's funny because I hardly ski over 30 days a year.

The first time was my own judgement, but this time I got shop recommendation and I would've ignored it but I was like damn they are pretty worn out. They were saying that the boots would stop fitting in my bindings after a while which sounds about right.. At least they'd get a bit loose.

However I did a lot of walking in my 3 weeks at timberline this summer so maybe I clicked my heels on the ground too much when I walked?

I got a pair of Dalbellos last season, since you can't replace the soles of those, the fitter recommended getting those heel-toe caps for them for long distance walking or hiking. It would kinda be a bitch to carry them around but it wouldn't be a big deal if you had a pack or big pockets, it might be a potential solution. That way it's a one time cost instead of continuing to replace the heel bits.
