Headphones while skiing

If you're skiing alone, do you listen to music? What type of music? And when you get on the lift do you take them out? Do you do the one ear in and one out? And if you leave them in do you not want to talk? So many questions.

On a related note, when you ski with a crew do you listen to music?

when i ski alone i usually have music in both ears bc its more enjoyable (personal preference). But when im skiining with my friends i never have any headphones in. Idk it just feels weird to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If I'm skiing alone I'll have headphones in. Music choice depends on the mood and how hard I'm trying to ski. If I'm with friends it depends on the day. Some days I won't and some days I'll just turn down the tunes if we stop or get on a lift.

if im on my own im normally just charging nonstop top to bottoms. metal, drum and bass, and tech n9ne are my normal choices.

old school funky rap for skiing park though.

I almost always listen to music when skiing unless I'm actually skiing with someone interesting which is 4% of the time. I need new friends lol

I put one in to talk to friends and so I can hear oncoming gapers. Last season it was very little rap, more electronic beats but now I got some wu tang, mobb deep, raekwon etc plus I'm gonna get more put on soon. Its weird how my style changes depending on what I listen to.

I listen to what ever I got, usually some rap, some electronic/ambiant, punk, etc etc. And I always have one headphone in at least. I have a gnarly Ipod nano thats very fun to use and i don't have to worry about it getting trashed

I usually listen to music on my way up the lift and unplug when I get up to the top, for whatever reason I usually tune out with my ears and get super focused with my eyes when I start skiing though.

I jam out on the lift, but not when I'm skiing. It messes with my focus.

ye I feel you, I can't usually ski with tunes on, but my friends and I crank the beats on the lift with a little speaker

If it's a solo day one bud usually unless a really good song comes up then the second goes in. Definitely push the pause button getting on the lift cuz you gotta be talking to rando's on the chair - you never know what sort of convo you're getting in to and sometimes they're pure gold.

i usually run one bud. for park i always listen to rap, if im skiing all mtn or trees then reggae. Sometimes i like no music tho when im with alot of people

Unpopular opinion warning.

I haven't listened to music while skiing is a long ass time.

I'd rather have a real conversation with my friends on the lift. I don't want music to distract me. I'm not into that. Even when I'm alone, I'll strike up a conversation with a stranger. I'm usually socially awkward as fuck but when I'm on a lift there's at least one thing me and the other guy has in common so it's easy for me. We are so attached to our phones and social media, it's nice to be surrounded by like-minded people and enjoy conversation with them.

And I just think it would be rude as fuck if someone was trying to have a conversation with me and I sat there completely oblivious. Like why even ski with someone if you're going to shut everyone/everything out?

iPod shuffles are they key! $45 gets you 2gb of music and can clip on the outside of your coat or helmet and you can always change the volume skip songs and pause with gloves on, I've had the same one for 3 years and has gone through rain, snow, heat and impacts and Never had a problem.

Try to ski with music in, but gets aggravating when the buds fall out or the constant tangle from the cord.

one time i hit a rail, earbud fell out, caught the earbud and put it back in, landed off the rail

probably the coolest trick ive done

call it the 'phoney'

Never ski with headphones in, feels distracting, everything seems more raw and awesome without a background. That said, I've never particularly agreed with the whole negativity towards people who ride with music in both ears, lots of my friends do so and I can talk with them just fine.
