Having trouble commiting to rails

Hi, ho, happy campers and heavy hitters! It's my second year of skiing and I took my first day out today. I'm noticing this routine where I tend to hop off rails too early and don't commit to actually going the full way. Any tips on growing a pair? :<

I use to have this problem too. I would always slide off of the rail early. Main thing is to stay centered. When you hop onto the rail try and get your skis as centered as you can. If your skis are centered you should be sliding on the rail directly under your boot. Once you begin sliding the rail keep your body centered. When you start leaning one way or the other you tend to slide off of the rail which ever way you're leaning. If you stay centered you should be able to slide the whole rail. Hope this helps and good luck.

Seeing as you've only skied one year, ski more in general. You'll get more confident and better with control.

Very true... its good to have all the basics down b4 you start mobbing into the park... plus you will have a better time in general and have a larger skiing experience

Are you talking flat rails or down rails? When hitting flat rails just aim for the end. For down rails you just kind of have to trial and error to get a feel for popping up on it centered and getting to the end.

If you're having trouble because you're nervous sesh a similar box for a little while. If you can slide the box no problem you can slide the rail.

Just keep trying it. The more you do it, even if you have some fails the better you'll get.
