1: What model lens do you own? (f4, f4 IS, f2.8, f2.8 IS)
2: What camera body is it being used on?

2.8 IS being used on a 7D. I fucking love it, but it belongs to my dad so I didn't have to pay for it haha. I'll post some pics hen I'm not on my phone

I use my mom's 2.8 IS often. All of the models are awesome, but I highly suggest getting the f/4 IS or f/2.8 IS if it's within your budget.

here's a few of my favorites I've taken with it:

It's a nice still lens, but for video it leaves more to be desired. I'm going to sell mine and get a vintage Nikon 80-200 f/4 and Glidecam.

i have the 4 non IS, its pretty nice, really sharp, and the focus when mounted on my 1d2 is lightning fast

f/2.8 non IS on a 7D. wish i'd saved up for the IS II but i only paid 1100 for the one i've got right now.

F4 non is, paid 480, used on 60d, the best for timelapses, which is all I really use it for. Check my vimeo to

This lens is pretty high on my list. I'd start by getting the f/4 non-IS and would probably upgrade to the IS version whenever I have the money (never...)

Probably the first L-glass I'd get.

God i'm in love with my 2.8 IS right now. Fast, lightweight, smooth focus ring, definitely one of the best 70-200's!

mark 1. I hear EVERYONE whine about how heavy they are, they aren't bad at all!

walking around your house doesn't quite give a good judgement on weight. Go for a day hike then report back in

Still, the 2.8s aren't nearly as heavy as people make them out to be. I think the non-skiers are just pussays when it comes to carrying camera gear.

I'm a photo-noob but how do you expose with your f/4? With mine everything is always underexposed like 4 stops unless I'm in glaring sunlight, which is never.

I have the mark 2 and if you are complaining about weight then you probably aren't motivated enough to get the shot, been hiking 3 miles with it on my back (pack ranges from 30-50 lbs depending on flashes, water, and such) daily and about to try out a 7 mile hike this week. I say it is worth the weight, the IS is amazing on the mark 2, never tried any of the other models.

I usually use Av mode and select the aperture and let the camera control the exposure time,

make sure you have the right Ev dialed in.

If you shoot in manual and the Ev scale reads 0 and it is still under exposed you might have a broken light meter.

For me a carry around and 85 1.8 and 200 2.8 and zoom with my feet. Lighter then the 70-200 as a whole, much lighter on camera, and my wallet under 1000 for both. though I have never used any 70-200 i can see how the 70-200 2.8 is worth the weight.

I know a kid who co-owned a condo with his sister when he was 15. And no, his parents didn't pay for it. Working hard goes a long way.

i worked for a full year at a part time job during school when i was 15/16 and i barely made 3000 bucks.
