Has anyone turned ski bindings into the shift knob of a manual vehicle?

I have this idea of turning the heel piece of my Look Pivots into a shift knob when I'm done using them, has anyone done this before?

good idea but some how they would still end up penetrating people....sneaky mofos

The frenchies are a horny breed. Who else would write on the chalkboard that the starting point for the pivot heelpiece was a thermoplastic dildo

I had an old pole grip in my car in high school, is was so freakin rad! But I’m pretty sure a binding wouldn’t be too hard to do

LOL I wish... it’s my dream car. A good ol 2005 WRX STI Blobeye. I actually drive a 1999 Toyota Tacoma.

Used to drive a 2002 wrx. Now I drive a 97 4runner. You have the better car trust me

Haha, funny thing is I need a new knob for my 98 4runner. I’ll try making one with an old heel piece and I’ll post it in here if it ends up working out.

Talk about an expensive shift knob! Good idea though, maybe I can install a 20 mm cannon and shoot out the tires of bad drivers.

I used to work on fighter jets, there was always stories of people retrofitting sticks into gearshifts. You'd be surprised at what would slip through supply system cracks

Lmao the best part of this is that it's in a reliant robin. The car the furthest possible distance from being a fighter

Actually not true. Fighters are designed to be inherantly unstable so they can maneuver faster. The Robin is one of the most unstable cars out there. Also it's small and probably very easy to retrofit with armament

Update for the binding shifter

It’s going well I just need to take off the pressure arms. Anyone know how to remove these?

once I get them off in am going to sand the paint of the heel piece and polish it.

I never thought of in that way. But unlike a fighter jet they tend to roll away from the turn, not with it

can you just grind them off with a belt sander?

That was gonna be my last resort, I was wondering if there was any other way to get them off but it doesn’t seem like there is.

angle grinder probs best bet

Drill the head of the rivet off. Do you plan to paint this? not gonna lie, the shape of this will be strange for a manual shifter.

Agreed, as someone who tracks their car shift knobs can make a huge difference (at least for me) but it would be dope for some daily driving and ski hill clout.

Style/Clout > functionality

Angle grinder would be pretty easy. Then could flap it smooth and paint it if you wanted could probably borrow one from somebody or they start at like 15 bucks at harbor frieght.

Man is trying to finish a project here, not just get it started.

I mean it's not like having an angle grinder will ever be useful again. People were talking about using belt sanders.

Idk.

Not criticizing your idea, just making a joke on Harbor Freight.

I got inspired and did this.

Old set of bars and my old favorite grips and a little hacking and bodging and now everyone knows how hard I shred.
