So the fam is deciding to go to either mission or whites pass for thanksgiving break.
Anyone know if either place is good? cuz ive never heard of either.
Also anyone that skies either one and wants to meet up let me know

does anyone know if the conditions are good at mission right now? cant seem to find out if they are open

I dont think they are, Stevens just opened last thursday, and usually it takes a while for Mission to get enough snow... but as the entire mountain at Stevens is now open, who knows, they might.

so here in idaho we have season passes to silver and i guess we get 5 free tickets to both whites and missions. thats why we are going to go to one of them. i wish it where stevens ive been there before and loved it. but the only input i get is to decide where we are gonna go.... whites or missions

white pass ans mission are pretty small, I would have to say go with mission ridge but if you can hit up one of the real resorts like Stevens or Crystal, both these will offer a greater variety of terrain

mmmm, yeaaaaaa, you should probably nooot goto white pass this weekend....and tell everyone you know that same thing...don't go...

talk to mrstskier

he's obsessed with mission and its his home mtn...prob wouldn't want to ski with him tho because he's absolutely terrible. at least he's enthusiastic about it though

fuck off alex why are you being so bitchly lately?

but yes mission is my home mountain, they should be opening up this weekend

im just fucking with you...take it easy

we've had this convo before...there is no sense speculating who is better at skiing when we have never seen eachother ski

Mission has the number one snowmaking system in.. well i think their claiming NW or country or something, which means they expect to not have enough snow. but it should be decent when it opens, not much park-wise when they open though

sun valley sucks

lift tickets are like 100 bucks to ski man made ice....

theyre opening this weekend as well

but i dont think i even wanna go...

agreed

i always wonder how it's a ski destination...it's like 2 strattons put on top of eachother with incredibly fucking epic base lodges

galena is where it's at

i've been there like 5 times but my cousins live there

each time i wonder why i came there to ski...i could've gone to stratton without flying halfway across the country

haha

idk why anyone would go to sv when theres better things on the way there in almost all directions

I have been to both many times:
White Pass:Fun little mountain. They have great terrain and some really nice tree runs. I also believe they have a park but its rather small. I stayed in the cabins about 15 mins from white pass and that was a blast.
Mission Ridge:Also a fun little mountain. They have some killer pillows that are usually up all season if they have enough snow and you are willing to hike a little.
However having said all this, I would recommend Mission. If you stay in Wenachee, you can choose between Mission and Stevens, and although i do love Mission; Stevens is a much much better mountain than both of these ski hills in every way. My advice: convince your parents to rent a cabin at lake Wenachee and then you can ski both resorts.

I might be up at mission this weekend to ski w/ mah mom (she refuses to ski steven's cuz it's 'too hard')

PM me and let's shred

my brother races for Mission ridge and he loves it there. they open on friday through sunday on the 27th of Nov. its a fun place. i blew my ACL their last march...fun times!

were you the guy on 07/08 JJs that blew his acl on the flat box? haha if you are i have it on video. and who is your brother?

Mission is loads of fun. There's actually some killer cliffs/chutes if you know where to traverse/hike. My uncle patrols there, so I usually make a trip over yonder at some point in the year.

Their park is OK, usually really icy.

Mission Ridge is my local mountain. It won't be open for another week and a half atleast. When it does snow up there it is epic and really nice. The park sucks compared to stevens mostly because its really icy. The on mountain features are nice, just gotta know where to look. The chutes and cliffs are sweet and there are some areas to build big jumps. But i still prefer Stevens over Mission Ridge because they get more snow which means more pow to land in.

Mission maybe be open but coming over from idaho to ski Tumwater? theres gonna be one run open it will be all hard ice snowmaking i think your better off staying over there and saving on gas and getting better conditions at lookout? don't know about white pass conditions at all and haven't been over there to ski but i spent the winter of 05/06 working all over the place at mission and that place is way sick when they get enough snow the quality of snow they get is way better than anything to the west of it though the quantity maybe be less, by the way Best snow making in the state i hate to burst your bubble but sun valley is definitely in Idaho and last time i check the snatch and the ridge were still in washington?

WP is solid.

I've never been to Mission so I can't speak to that. I've spend a few days this season at WP and you'll have a great time. Just be glad it is what it is and you'll be stoked - lots of snow, really cool people and good terrain. Just look for it.
