Has anyone made their own twin tips?

I heard of some kids making their own twin tips by just bending the back. Has anyone does this, and does it work

Why do I feel that half the people here don't know how to ski?
 
if u are desperate.. boil the tails then bend em'... the freeze em... then go ut and fuck yourself up good ya!

i've head of guys taking blow torches to old skis and bending them up. They end up a lot like Olin Mark IV.

and i agree, seems like most of the people on this site are happier to look and talk like a skier than actually being on the hill

ya man thats a stupid idea makin ur own twins, but if u look at most ppls profiles here, they cant do shit, they just sit here all day and talk about skiing.

^I havent put anything in my profile at all, and that definitely doesn't mean I cant ski, because I can. dont make assumptions.

 
Hey guys, you have got to start somewhere. As far as twin tips go, I twinned by putting my dirt skis over a fire and bending them in a vice to the desired height. Then I put rivets through the tail to keep the base from peeling off. I think this only works with foam core skis.

heat up the tails of your skis with a blow torch, wait unitl they are crispy brown, step on them to bend back however far you want, put liquid nails in them, clamp them and let sit for 24-48 hours

My friend did this, not me, but thid\s is how you do this.

1. put 2 bolts in the back of skis to keep them from delaming

2. wrap tails in tin foil to keep them from scorching

3. take a blow torch to them untill they are nice and bendable

4. take a wood block an cut out the desired shape.

5. use c-clamps to clamp the ski to the wood when it is still hot

6. unclamp when cool
