Has anyone been to Wolf Creek?

Just wondering if anyone's heading out there. All I've heard was that the place got dumped on hard. I'm trying to find out if it's worth the 6 hr drive. Also, their web site says wed. is local appreciation day with $31 lift tickets, do you actually have to be a local or is it just what they're calling wednesday, and anyone can get the $31 ticket?

wolf creek is so fun. they just got 56" in this storm. I finish school on friday so i think im gonna head up for a couple days. yeah and anyone can get the local appreciation price.

^ its prob waist deep cause the flat stuff is the only stuff open.....i wonder if tomorrow will be worth it with avy danger and such, I cant afford to go

yah wolf creek is sweet, but considering this is the first big storm i dont know if it's worth it
think of the place like a big staircase, it goes steep-flat-steep-flat in a lot of places. while the lower angle stuff is also fun, you obviously want the steeper stuff as well, but since this is the first big storm they're probably not going to open up the better areas cause the snowpack is still establishing and there are going to be slides, both man-made and natural.
so yes, wolf creek is sweet, but i say wait til they get a big storm either later this month or in january

apparently a kid from CU died this week at wolf creek. i think he was skiing alone and fell into a treewell then suffocated since there was so much snow. very shitty
