Has Anybody Else Had This Issue?

I was skiing a week ago and was feeling great on my skis. That is until I did a nosebutter and popped out. When I released I had this super sharp pain that’s relatable to bad shin bang. I skied it off and did some more runs without much notice to the issue. The next morning I woke up and my lower leg around my Fibula and the muscle in that area (outside of leg) was super sore. I was having cramps on my ankle and slight pain to the area. But walking was fine. I gave it a day and decided to go get an X-Ray. I didn’t break anything (which is good) but there was still a little pain. Me, not thinking, decided to hit up the mountain after getting the clear and on my first run I had a few issues but nothing serious. Next run though... that was serious pain and it hurt so bad I had to go home after 3 runs. It’s been a week now and it feels good so I decided to pop into my boots and try some “tests” to see if the pain was still there. It was mostly gone and I should be good for when I go up Thursday but I can still feel it a little bit when I go really far backseat. Anyone else had/have this issue? Any thing I should do? What happened to you if you had it?

Carefully do some stretching and see if anything hurts/feels weak. If there’s some serious lack of range/ pain/ weakness maybe take some more time off or consult a physical therapist.

And just take it easy on hill for a bit. The season is just starting. Don’t rush it.

That describes exactly how I feel when I break in a pair of boots. Do your boots happen to be brand new?

Yep! Just got a new set this season and have only been on them 5-6 times.

This is most likely the problem, if the specific pain persists you should see a boot fitter and see what they can do

Yeah just power through it for a few more days. Anytime you're not actually going downhill, try lifting the buckles then dropping them down at the top of the run. Consider even walking around in your boots at home a bit to get them broken in.

Sounds like a shin splints

Happened to me 2 years ago, I could still feel it a couple months after.

Ice and time!!

UPDATE: I went skiing the other day and decided to take it easy for the first two runs. I just carved and everything seemed to be holding up. I then did a few drops and more advanced runs and I was a bit stiff and unfamiliar with my skis but seemed to be doing fine with a little bit of pain (more along the lines of shin bang). By 6-7 laps I was feeling good and skiing like normal. I just wasn’t doing the jumps and drops as usual. I’m going to give it a break like I always do after I get shin bang but I should be fine for the season. *knock on wood*
