Newschoolers has gone to trash. This site use to be somewhere to go and chill, have an opinion, and not be called an ass or gay every other reply. Too many people have turned this site into something skiing should never be. Skiing is about harmeny, peace, love, solitude, friends... experience...GOOD EXPERIENCE. All that is being breed on this site anymore is hate from one thread to another. And not in just threads either. The homepage directly attacks gays. "definitely gayer than a one-foot grind, that's for sure" C'mon has everyone really sunken to that level. Do we need to preach out against the homosexuals? Harvey to you I say... Forums are hard to moditor completely and it would be impossible to keep all hate out, but to take the step yourself to preaching love rather than hate you can slowly help to fix the problem that is terrorizing Newschoolers and the world. To all others that read the forum please take note, hate has grabed you, so has love, which will win the fight?

And Harvey you could easily change the poles thing to something much more politically correct with the same effect... "Stupider then getting your wang stuck inside a beer can."

Right now, all over the forums and cults there are many intelligent and respectful conversations and debates occuring. but if you spend all your time in threads like 'bush/gore/queen latifa is a crackwhore' then all you are going to get is probably worthless. How does the old saying go, 'if you lay down with the pigs, then you'll smell of them too' (I know I just butchered that to hell.)

Sure there are idiotic posts, but there have always been. It's just more apparent now, because as more people join each day, there's more of it. On the flipside, there's never been a greater amount of intelligent discussion going on.

I've heard so many different people complain and whine about how horrible ns has become, and how mr.bishop/nopoles needs to magically solve the problem.

But do you realize that the most powerful people on the site that can bring change are you guys? The members? Without the members, nothing would be posted here. No forums, no pictures, and no video.

If you are so fed up with everything, then change it. If 95% of people on here are tired of the trashy worthless posts of name-calling and shit-talking then why are you letting yourselves get overrun by the meager 5%? Don't accept it, don't tolerate it, call people on it, and spend time making quality posts yourself.

I guarantee you that if you spend more time putting thought into each post, then you will hardly get called an 'ass' or 'gay' to everything you post.

This goes hand-in-hand with one of the biggest problems in society. Everyone complains about how horrible a system is and how 'somebody' needs to fix it; when all along that 'somebody' that can fix it is them.

You can't keep expecting the site administration to solve all your problems. Guys like nopoles are already spending every waking second improving this site. They have dedicated so much to ns, and put aside just about everything else in their life.

Change starts with one person.
 
Ghost Dragon I really think you need to read what I wrote again. I specificly state that it will take a multitude of people in order for change to happen. The problem is that this site is destroying skiing. Skiing is close to art. IE a freedom of expression. Sure you can go as far to say that saying someones gay is freedom of expression but that's not what skiing is about. Also there is a level to which skiing can reach and will stop. It is at that time in which the sport continues and thrives or falls dramatically to the ground. The two ways it will go is more towards an art or to a buisness. Guess which one newschoolers is leading the sport towards. Finally the comment about Gays is more directed towards being intelligent. Using a word as gay to describe a level of "coolness" shows little or no creative thought process (thus making skiing less creative...less of an art). I am amazed that no one else ever seeems to want to try and challege ones mind in order to produce quality rather than quantity. Just a thought.

Intelligence is how you use information... not the sharing of information.
 
I definitly agree with both of you to some sort of extent. NS has changed, whether we view it as good or bad. It's all in ones opinion.

But yes, change does start with one person.
 
If you want quality threads, join some cults.

Most of the cults I'm in have some good discussions.

It's antidisestablishmentarianism.....sorry I just wanted to use that word in a sentence.

A.C.I.D First of I'd like to point out that we don't think not using poles or one footed grinds are bad. We just wanted to give a wide contrast of choices in the poll while having a little fun. We thought it was comical how much shit Charles got for doing a one foot in the X Games so we used that. I thought it was dope.

Also, I noticed last year that the amount of shit talking decreased sharply once the season was in full swing. Right now everybody's just jonesing for snow. Maybe some of the shit talkers will shut up once they can ski again.

well this isnt the quality post you fellas are talking about, BUT when i saw that kids sig. Dont watch me, watch tv... i almost shit my pants, not only was it raelly funny and of course i did laugh out loud, but i didnt think a fellow newschooler would like good music and it seems he does.

To say skiing is just an art and not a business is like having your cake and eat it to. Without the business side the art wouldnt exist. Artists dont paint and give away their work THEY SELL IT.

If you wanna call it art, by all means it is. IF someone wants to call it a job then damn it they have a profession. If your looking for a hobby or a fun weekend skiing can be that as well for certain ppl.

Instead of telling us what skiing should or shouldnt be Why dont you enjoy it for what it has become for you??
 
I read all that over just for you, and that changed nothing. I still feel the same way.

All I saw in that thread was 'harvey this', 'harvey that', and might I also suggest looking at what the thread is called? And yes you try to make it a point that ' all others that read the forum' need to get involved.

But do you honestly think that threads like this where people just complain and whine are going to change the hearts of the members? Or maybe you expect the members to read this over and go 'He's right! hate has grabed me! I need to fill myself with love.'

C'mon, be realistic here.

The simple point I am trying to make is that you are either part of the problem, or part of the solution.
 
You know I think your right, being personal is a much more effective way. Oh and no sorry to burst your bubble I'm not gay. I just like to use my imagination, rather than using terms that belittle people. I'd rather be insulted with something that puts me in my place, (usually funny because using anysort of racism just shows your lack of intelligence) rather than hearing someone use terms that... don't make sense.

Mods and admins should start enforcing harsher bands

It can be done, A fourm I go to has over 100,000 members.

If you spam (post whore, swear out of line you get banned for a day. Then a week. Then forever

NS has really gone down the shit whole, its not CK0's fault or even the mods its the members

and sorry matt, but YOU are not helping spread the love on this site. you randomly say you hate someone, that they should be banned, like your opinion is what leads to someone being banned or not, without ever giving an intelligent or justified reason as to why. i know you have been here from the start, and contributed to this site a LOT, in very positive ways. but your attitude towards newbies like myself has been anything but uplifting or positive.
 
i also think that the community is only as good as the people who join it, but setting an example by deleting some of the worst offenders would be a good start. As previously stated, there is large forum boards all over the internet that dont have this type of hate and nastiness to them......and its because the mods better regulate them.

Just think, your site can only be as respected as you demand it to be.

hey, just because I am not to fond of skiierboy720, almostskiier, stowbum does not mean that I hate everybody or does it?
