Hardest marked inbounds run?

Winner! It's always icy, pretty steep, really crowded, and about 10% on the run actually know how to get down it
 
i want to know how sunset chute is right now, the one next to it, i think its almost better than 5-0 even though its a bit smaller, gets tracked so much less, looks like its getting there...and elevator and exhilaration are also a good bit gnarlier than either of those chutes, and of course theres krakatoa too, which can be pretty fuckin big...but thats just for named runs

asian pussy...not really inbounds, not all that hard but fuckin gnarly due to the exposure...but my number one line on my to do list is that one skiers right of couloir extreme, the drop into the chute in the middle of the big rock face

weekend chutes and satisfaction too....god damn permanent closure
 
I've never heard of the name sunset chute, but there was a super gnarly chute next to 5-0 last year that was a straight shot. I definitely did not do that chute though. And I haven't skied 5-0 this year because every time I've been up, it's been foggy.
 
yea it really is pretty much a straight shot, kind of a good idea to get someone to stand at the bottom so you dont just plow through some one traversing over...once we get some stickier snow towards like april it gets decently wide though
 
i know there are videos of it on youtube...my friend showed me one of his buddy sending it, but i dont actually know what the name of the chute is, so i havent been able to find any

krakatoa looks fucking gnarly huge. would love to see video of that. and asian pussy, to me, seems straight stupid. like legitimately fucking dumb because of that exposure. hooooly god. I definitely want to check out exhilaration soon, especially with all the new snow we've gotten now. But excitation...that run is definitely 10x gnarlier. that chute to the right of the couloir though...you gotta be some kind of crazy to do that. either way, I'm thinking of checking out 5-0 and exhilaration tomorrow, I'll let you guys know.
 
well now that i checked out your profile, i retract my previous statement. however, cowboy ridge is not that steep or inbounds for that matter. still tons of fun though.
 
it seemed pretty steep the last time i skied it...6 years ago, haha. still love stevens though, lots of cliffs for how small the mountain is.
 
yep it's looker's right of the big. i've only seen tracks in it once, and the skier sidestepped down the first 100 vert or so.

here are a couple shots i got in the big this week. it's really not super difficult terrain, but it demands respect because it's high consequence and the top has variable conditions (windswept, rocks, chop, with some deep pockets that can catch you off guard). jump turns are the best way to go for the very top.

oh... and it gets DEEEEP at the bottom.

i'm sure there's much gnarlier terrain, but i though i might as well post this.

yea i have no desire at all to do asain pussy.

but exhilaration is definitely gnarlier than excitation...its the one on the far skiers right, the biggest chute, pretty much a mandatory straight line at least until we get some more snow excitation is the more often skied one between it and glacier wall with the two different lines in it.
 
It's called Sundance. Depending on coverage, it is very tight and there's a hard turn so you either have to do it with one ski or hop in and hope you land on the right angle. Buddy's brother broke his arm when he couldn't make the turn on his Elizabeths, dude went flying.
 
Just to clarify some info on some of the Sunshine spots discussed here:

The photo above is not a line in Silver City - it's a line called Rocket Pocket which drops in off the side of the Dive towards Goat's eye. It's a bit of a grey area whether it's inbounds or not - the entrance and exit are both inbounds but the area of the line itself is not listed on trail map and certainly wouldn't be considered a 'named run' in resort terms. If you point it out to people in person they generally don't believe it's actually a skiable line, it's difficult to explain how fucked it looks in person.

Delirium Dive is difficult to classify -it's a large area and there are lots of mellower ways down that wouldn't come close to being the hardest run but equally there are some much more exposed and technical lines in there.

The Wild West is generally gnarlier than the Dive as there are fewer easy routes down. However, of the four couloirs/chutes in the WW, three are not really challenging or exposed if you have any competence/experience in steep big mountain terrain. The one exception is Luxton's couloir which is very rarely skied. It's a really narrow, blind, mandatory straightine that has a really sketchy, rocky and tight entrance. You exit into small trees at a very uncomfortable speed. From above:

It's gnarly but there are definitely other lines out there i'd be more intimidated about dropping into.

Silver City is nuts and would be up there but can't be classified as an inbounds run anymore - it's never going to be open to the public again after a patroller almost died in there.
 
If the entrance is right, exhilaration is a pretty straight forward line. Some of the lines down glacier wall are way more steep, exposed and have worse snow conditions than exhilaration. I personally will never ski down glacier wall.
 
I skied both. They don't deserve to be anywhere near some of the other runs on that list. I'm sorry but I skied outer limits when I was like 9.

Interesting that A bowl at Loveland is on the list. Yea, its steep, but its so fucking wide open that its not that hard at all to ski.

I'm not going t pretend that I've skied everything in this thread, because I haven't, but this has got to be up there. Navagating Slide 1 almost always is a hell of a task. Slides 4 and 5 prove impossible narrow and steep also.
