Except he achieved plenty of success when he was alive as well. For example, Ready to Die went multi-platinum while he was still alive. But you can ignore that and say he's only successful cause he's dead.

Up for debate, really the only biggie track that tells a story is juicy, and it's not that vivid, I venture to say that slug is a way better story teller. Along with nas, immortal, and some others.
 
That's not my argument, I was responding to someone above that called big's lyrics, "amazing."
But do however disagree. I think in some sub-genres, rappers are not lyricists. I'm mainly refering to the mainstream, but also hyphy and most southern rap. I DO beleive that in the underground, many rappers are in fact lyricists, becausein many cases they don't have top notch production to fall back on.
